Games Notes – Game Preview October 2, 2026 VS Soo Greyhounds
After a successful start to the season on the road, the Sarnia Sting are finally back home.
The Sting return to Progressive Auto Sales Arena tonight for their 2026-27 home opener, welcoming the Soo Greyhounds for the second meeting between the two teams this season.
Sarnia opened the year with four straight games on the road, winning three of four to come home with a 3-1 record. Now, the Sting will look to carry that early momentum into a three-game homestand in front of the home crowd.
Tonight’s matchup offers some familiarity, as Sarnia and Soo met less than two weeks ago to open the regular season at GFL Memorial Gardens. The Sting won 4-3 after battling back from a 3-1 deficit.
Sarnia’s power play helped spark the comeback, with Jack Van Volsen finding the back of the net before Cole Emerton scored late in the second period to pull the Sting within one. Sarnia then completed the comeback in the third, beginning the season with a statement road win.
Since then, the Sting have continued to find offence throughout the lineup. Sarnia enters tonight coming off a dominant 10-3 victory over the Ottawa 67’s, where six third-period goals helped close out the four-game road trip on a high note.
With the first road trip of the season now behind them, the Sting turn their attention to home ice and the opportunity to build on their 3-1 start.
Tonight, Sting hockey is officially back in Sarnia. Catch the first of three road games tonight on FloHockey and YourTV Sarnia Channel 700, and follow Sting socials for updates.
