Barrie Colts at Sarnia Sting Game Preview – February 27th
Written by Mateya Steblaj-Wood
Every game is a must-win for the Sting as the hunt for the playoffs continues. Tonight, the Sting will face-off against the Central Division leaders, the Barrie Colts. Puck drop is set for 7:05 PM at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
The Sting have been in training mode since their last game on Saturday, a 7-4 redemption win over the Saginaw Spirit. Chase Gaughan opened the scoring at the end of the period, his second back-to-back goal. The Spirit evened the score, but Easton Walos took back the lead in the second period. Matthew Manza assisted on the goal, and wouldn’t slow down for the rest of the night.
Manza picked up two assists, and his first OHL hattrick that solidified the win. When asked about the emotions behind the milestone, he said, “It felt really good. It was great to celebrate that big win with my teammates”. Ben Pickell also put up two goals and an assist.
As Manza said, for the Sting, the goal is clear for tonight’s tilt; stick to the structure and rush the net, and outwork the other team.
