Behind the Jersey: Easton Walos
Written by Mateya Steblaj-Wood
Easton Walos is a key piece of the young, developing group of the Sarnia Sting. Walos is the current team leader of points, goals and assists in his rookie season.
Walos was selected by the Sting in the 11th round of the 2024 OHL Priority Draft at just 15 years old. The young center spent the 2024-25 season in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) playing with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. He put up 7 goals and 11 assists in 48 games, finishing the season 8th in team points
The Wisconsin native was officially signed to the Sting on a Standard Player Agreement in June of 2025. After speaking with General Manager Dylan Seca and other management members, Walos recalled describing his signing as “a perfect fit”.

Easton Walos signed a Standard Player Agreement with the Sarnia Sting on June 18th, 2025.
The five-foot-eleven center said it took about the first five games of the regular season to settle in and feel confident with the team. The rookie seemed to find his way easily enough, as he was named OHL Rookie of the Week in November, having played only 18 games so far on the season with 15 points. At the time, Walos was second in scoring on the team, but has since moved up to first.
In 52 games so far, Walos has scored an impressive 19 goals and 17 assists, proving to be a rookie to keep an eye on. While reflecting on Walos’ season so far, Seca said he is impressed with the rate of his progression, “He had to earn his way. He started on the fourth line and was even a healthy scratch for a few games”. His development has been undeniable, Seca went on to say, “His talent rises to the top. He’s a real strong worker, cares about winning and losing”.

Despite the outside noise, he said it’s important to remain level-headed and to be a dependable player for his teammates. He says that this season has helped him develop skills on specialty teams. Walos has found success on both ends of the ice, on the power play and penalty kill. “I’ve been given so much opportunity here. I’ve been taking advantage of that, and I think it’s going well”.
Walos noted the change in pace and skill when transitioning from the BCHL to the OHL, he said, “It was a big change. A lot faster and more skilled”. Over-ager Jordan Bax has helped Walos adjust to OHL life, he said, “he’s helped me out a lot. He’s really shown me the ropes”.
Aside from help on the team, his older brother, Tanner Walos, has been a significant influence. “He introduced me to hockey. He’s taught me everything I know”. The brother has the rare opportunity to play alongside each other with the Silverbacks in the 2024-25 season.
When looking back on his first season in the OHL, Walos said his biggest takeaway was learning how to face adversity and change. Experiencing changes in management, coaching and leadership all in one season, while also being new to the team, can be daunting. He said he grew to learn the importance of sticking with what he knows, and to focus on what he can control.
Walos said the team needs to focus on taking it game by game in the next stretch of the season, and not get too caught up in looking ahead.
