With the 2025 OHL Priority Selection fast approaching, the top 2009-born players are eagerly wait for their names to be called this weekend as they are officially welcomed to the League. This year’s Priority Selection will be conducted online beginning with Rounds 1-3 on Friday, April 11th at 7:00pm followed by Rounds 4-15 on Saturday, April 12th at 9:00am.
Following a Draft that saw the team add promising young stars Alessandro Di Iorio and Beckham Edwards as well as Chase Gaughan, Ryder Simpson and Ryan Chamberlain, Sting General Manager Dylan Seca and his scouting staff enter the 2025 Priority Selection armed with 6 picks through the first five rounds. With a strong cupboard of picks highlighted by the highly anticipated 4th overall selection as a result of the Priority Selection Lottery in March, Seca and his team are ready to welcome the next wave of young talent to Sarnia.
This year’s priority selection marks the first time since 2011 that the Sting will make the 4th overall selection in the OHL draft. That year, the Sting used the pick to add Forward Ryan Kujawinski from the Sudbury Wolves Minor Midget AAA program. The Kirkland Lake, Ontario native suited up for the club in 29 games his rookie season before being traded to Kingston in exchange for then 19-year-old Boston Bruins prospect Ryan Spooner. Seca also holds two second round picks and a third-round selection to round out day one of the Draft.
Entering day two of the Draft, Seca and his team will make 12 further additions to the Sting’s 2025 draft class, including two picks in the 8th and 10th rounds. The Sting have been able to add strong talent to the Club’s roster on this day in recent years including Hughston Hurt (2023, Round 4, 69th overall), Nathan Omeri (2022, Round 8, 148th overall), Liam Beamish (2023, Round 8, 151st overall), Easton Wainwright (2021, Round 9, 172nd overall), captain Lukas Fischer (2022, Round 11, 208th overall, and Dylan Luecke (2023, Round 12, Pick 237th overall).
