18-year-old forward Marko Sikic joins Sting from the Guelph Storm
Sarnia, ON. – Sarnia Sting General Manager Dylan Seca announced this afternoon that the Hockey Club has acquired Forward Marko Sikic and a 3rd round pick in the 2022 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection in exchange for Forward Brayden Guy and Defenceman Ashton Reesor.
Beyond serving as Sting captain this season, overager Guy tallied 49 goals and 42 assists for a total of 91 points through 182 career OHL games, all of which were played in a Sting uniform.
20-year-old Ashton Reesor also had a significant tenure with the Sting, having played in 96 contests since making his OHL Debut with the team during the 2017-18 season. In total, Reesor recorded 3 goals, 21 assists and a +13 rating during his time with the team.
On what Guy and Reesor’s contributions meant to the Sarnia Sting, Seca comments:
“This trade is certainly bittersweet. The leadership, character and contributions of both Brayden Guy and Ashton Reesor are second to none. Through the pandemic they have steered this hockey club and have been nothing but professionals in every way and we wish them all the best in Guelph.”
In addition to a third-round selection in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection, this afternoon’s trade welcomes 18-year-old Forward Marko Sikic to the Sting. The 6’3”, right-shooting Kitchener, Ontario native has scored 5 goals and 6 assists through 27 games played with Guelph this season, which marks his second in the OHL.
“We are obtaining a player we’ve targeted all year. Marko has a big body, skates well, and has the skill and hockey sense we value. On top of that he’s an outstanding young man with elite character and work ethic. We want to welcome Marko and the rest of the Sikic family to Sarnia.” Comments Seca on the addition.
