Grant rounds out the OHL presence on staff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"auto\">Canada is looking to reclaim the top of the podium after settling for bronze last summer in Brno, Czechia, and Tren\u010d\u00edn, Slovakia. The program has won gold at three straight recent Hlinka Gretzky Cups (2022, 2023, 2024) and owns 25 gold medals in tournament history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"auto\">Camp runs July 27 to Aug. 1 in Edmonton, with exhibition games against Sweden (July 30) and Czechia (Aug. 1) before the roster is trimmed ahead of the tournament. Canada opens the 2026 Hlinka Gretzky Cup against Switzerland on Aug. 3, followed by Slovakia (Aug. 4) and Sweden (Aug. 5) to close out preliminary-round play. The 2008-born forward was originally selected 59th overall by the Swift Current Broncos (WHL) in the first round of the 2025 CHL Import Draft.<\/p>\n<p>Kuryachenkov, a 6-foot, 176-pound forward from Ufa, Russia, recorded 28 points (12G, 16A) as a 16-year-old with the Swift Current Broncos last season. The camp runs July 17-21 at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville, with players split into four teams for two days of practice and six games from July 19-21.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">The roster was selected by Program of Excellence (POE) general manager Alan Millar, POE head scout Byron Bonora and U17 assistant general manager Mike Johnston (Portland Winterhawks, WHL), with input from Hockey Canada&#8217;s regional scouting staff that includes Scott Grieve (Erie Otters) and Rob Simpson (London Knights). 2026 CHL Import Draft, goaltender Oskari Ahmaj\u00e4rvi to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Ahmaj\u00e4rvi, a native of Nurmij\u00e4rvi, Finland, became the first goaltender selected by the Brampton Steelheads in the 2026 CHL Import Draft when the club chose him 7th overall in the first round. The 6-foot, 181-pound netminder was the first goaltender taken in the draft after an impressive season with Keikko-Espoo in the U20 SM-Sarja league, where he posted a 2.34 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage in 29 appearances. Ahmaj\u00e4rvi has also represented Finland on the international stage on multiple occasions at the U16, U17 and U18 levels.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Goaltending, David Shantz, had this to say about Oskari, \u201cOskari is a highly competitive, athletic goaltender with a strong track record of results.
