SmartStop Post-Game Recap – Sunday Scoring Frenzy
The Steelheads soar to victory over the Barrie Colts in an impressive 10-5 win.
First Period
From the moment the puck dropped in Mississauga, there was no lack of action or flare; a highly physical and fast-paced contest seeing both teams battling early on. Luke Misa opened the scoring four minutes into the period with MacGregor Richmond and Ryan Del Monte following suit to give the Steelheads a 3-0 lead midway through the first.
The Colts managed only one goal before a quick two-on-one gave way for the Steelheads, seeing Del Monte set up Jack Van Volsen for the team’s fourth goal of the period. After the Colts added a second, an incredible feed from Misa saw Chas Sharp tally his first of the pre-season, as the Steelheads entered the first intermission with a lead of 5-2.
Shots on Goal – 7 BAR/14 MISS
Second Period
The second period began where the first left off with Lucas Kamiris beautifully redirecting a shot from Stevie Leskovar. Shortly thereafter, William Eggleton was persistent in following his own rebound to the net, extending the Steelheads lead to 7-2. The Colts were able to score one goal before the pace of the game slowed – but only momentarily.
Tensions flared resulting in a Steelheads powerplay. Chas Sharpe scored his second goal of the night on the man advantage with a phenomenal shot through traffic, only minutes before Angus MacDonell tucked away a rebound to see the Steelheads enter the second intermission leading 9-3.

Third Period
The final frame saw the least amount of goals scored, however Barrie scored twice in succession before the ten minute mark. The game fell into a steady pace then, open ice and snapping back-and-forth gameplay carrying both teams throughout the period. The final goal of the night came courtesy again of Van Volsen, giving the Steelheads their tenth, the team securing a comfortable 10-5 victory over the Barrie Colts.
