WESTLAND INSURANCE COMMUNITY PLAYER OF THE MONTH: PORTER MARTONE
The Brampton Steelheads proudly announce that Porter Martone has been named the Westland Insurance Community Player of the Month for February!
Since joining the Steelheads from the Sarnia Sting in January 2023, Martone has consistently exemplified the attributes of a true leader. From guiding his teammates on and off the ice as team captain to participating in community givebacks, Porter demonstrates what it takes to be a great role model.
In the month of February, Porter visited Eastbourne Drive Public School and spoke with the kids about what it means to be a hockey player. Alongside answering questions about the game, the Steelheads’ captain took the time to get to know each child he interacted with, ensuring they brought home some hockey knowledge and a new memory to share with their families.
In his spare time, Porter also often visits the Port Credit Minor Hockey Association to assist with practices and help out with drills. Alongside showcasing the technical skills of the game, Martone teaches the future generations of players what it means to be a true hockey player and leader.
Through his leadership as captain and his significant impact in the community, we are delighted to name Porter Martone as the Westland Insurance Community Player of the Month!
“It’s truly an honour to be selected as the Community Player of the Month. I vividly remember being a child, looking up to hockey players and feeling inspired whenever they visited our school, attended practices, or engaged with the community. Those moments were always so impactful. Now, having the opportunity to give back to the community through the gift of hockey is something I deeply value and always look forward to.” commented Porter Martone.
Congratulations, Porter!
