STEELHEADS SIGN CENTREMAN MATEJ STANKOVEN AND GOALTENDER PETER CHLEBOWSKI

BRAMPTON, ON – The Brampton Steelheads are excited to announce the signings of centreman Matej Stankoven and goaltender Peter Chlebowski, who have both signed OHL Scholarship and Development Agreements

Stankoven, a native of Bratislava, Slovakia, was selected in the second round (38th overall) of the 2025 CHL Import Draft. The 6-foot, 183-pound forward made an impact last season with 30 points (16G, 14A) in 32 games in the Slovakia U20 League. He also represented his country on the international stage, serving as captain of Slovakia’s U17 Team and recording 14 points (5G, 9A) across 17 international contests.

Steelheads Head Coach and General Manager James Richmond shared his thoughts on the signing of Stankoven: “We are super excited that our First Round pick in this year’s Import Draft is on his way to Brampton. Matej is a strong two way centre that we believe will be a key piece to the Steelheads success for the next couple of years.”

Chlebowski, from Schiller Park, Illinois, was chosen by the Steelheads in the 10th round (195th overall) of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection. The 6-foot-2, 201-pound netminder had a strong season with Team Illinois 16U AAA, earning a spot at the USA Hockey National Development Camp.
