Steelheads Host Windsor Spitfires on Bell Let’s Talk Night at the CAA Centre.
BRAMPTON, ON – The Brampton steelheads headed back to the tank this Saturday to face off against the Windsor Spitfires.
The first period led off to a mild start, with both teams generating early energy. Windsor struck first, as Liam Greentree scored 3 minutes into the opening period.
The Steelheads recognized former teammate Jakub Fibigr with a tribute during the game. Recently traded to Windsor, this marked Fibigr’s first return to Brampton as a member of the Windsor Spitfires.
Goaltender Zach Bowen kept the Steelheads in it late in the period, making a highlight- reel save with just over 1 minute remaining.
The second period began with a power play at 0:51 for Liam Greentree, who received a 2 minute minor for goaltender interference. That opportunity led to a major milestone for #64 Mason Roy, who earned his first OHL goal and point at the 2:48 minute mark.
Macgregor Richmond gave the Steelheads a one-goal lead late in the period, scoring his 4th goal of the season.
Several penalties were handed out during the second. Troy Patton, Reed Gee and Kieran Witkowski all headed to the penalty box for Brampton, while Windsor’s Ethan Becheltz tied the game with just 1 minute remaining. After two periods, Windsor led the shot count 25 – 16.
Windsor Spitfire’s Ethan Belchetz tied up the game with 1 minute left. The second period ended with 25 shots for Windsor and 16 for Brampton.
The third period began with a goal for Conor Walton at 4:17 and quickly after a goal from Nathan Villeneuve at 6:34 bringing the Windsor Spitfires up by two with 14 minutes remaining in the third period. Ethan Garden added another goal with just under 5 minutes left in the third period
Both Mason Roy and Julian DeMiglio headed to the penalty box, giving the Windsor Spitfire’s 2 power plays in the third. Stankoven also headed to the penalty box with two minutes left in the third period.
