Steelheads Bring Energy In Competitive Matchup With Oshawa
BRAMPTON, ON – The Brampton Steelheads traveled east on Sunday to take on the Oshawa Generals, looking to bounce back following Saturday night’s contest.
The Steelheads came out with early intensity, generating two quick shots on goal from William Eggleton, with Matej Stankoven just six seconds later.
Both the Steelheads and Generals were chasing penalties early in the first, as Brampton’s David Green and Oshawa’s Harrsion Franssen were both given roughing penalties. Less than a minute later, Manuel Amado heads to the slammer for roughing, followed by Mason Roy, also called for roughing a minute later.
The Generals opened the scoring when Owen Griffin scored on a 5-on-3 man advantage.
The second period featured fast paced end to end action. Oshawa’s Colin Feely was called for high-sticking, and moments later, Brampton took advantage. David Green scored, assisted by his brother Peter Green, making D.Green’s third goal of the season.
Oshawa responded quickly, as Harrison Franssen recorded his first goal of the night to extend the General’s lead to 3-1. The period closed with Oshawa holding a 28-17 advantage in shots on goal.
The third period opened with a penalty for Oshawa General’s Lucas Moore for cross checking, giving the Brampton Steelheads an early power-play opportunity. Harrison Franssen and Owen Cartwright headed to the box for fighting at 7:08.
The Steelheads generated momentum midway through the third period, registering four shots on goal in a strong offensive push. Despite the late pressure, Brampton was unable to close the gap, as Oshawa sealed the game with an empty net-goal at 19:45.
The Brampton Steelheads travel to Barrie next Saturday to take on the Barrie Colts.
