February 23rd vs Niagara IceDogs (16-32-6-1) @ 7:00pm
Tale of the Tape – After collecting points in each of their last six games, the Steelheads will look to continue their strong run of play against the last place Niagara IceDogs. A flawless 3-0 against Niagara this season, the Steelheads aim to get one step closer to sweeping the season series against their Central Division rival.
Player to Watch – Steelheads captain Chas Sharpe has caught fire, picking up six points in his last three games. The Trout will need his production from the back end to avoid any “trap game” woes and handle business against the IceDogs
The Opponent – The league worst Niagara IceDogs are a respectable 4-5-1-0 in their last 10 games. Only winning their most recent matchup 2-1, the Trout will have to take advantage of the IceDogs lackluster road record of 7-18-1-1 and pick up a valuable two points on Friday.
Feb 24th @ Barrie Colts (21-28-3-0) @ 7:30pm
Tale of the Tape – The Steelheads bested the Colts in an exciting 5-4 victory two weeks prior. They’ll look to make it two straight against Barrie to end the season after dropping their first three matchups.
Player to Watch – Steelheads midseason trade acquisition Dean Loukus has five goals and nine points in his last five games, including two goals against Barrie on February 9th. His continued production both against Barrie and the rest of the season would be a boon for the Trout.
The Opponent – Barrie has just 21 wins in 52 games this season, but boasts a strong 16-10-1-0 home record. The Steelheads will look to hand the Colts their fourth straight loss as they continue to push for first in the Eastern Conference.
Feb 25th vs Sudbury Wolves (32-16-3-3) @ 4:00pm
Tale of the Tape – The Steelheads matchup against Sudbury two weeks prior was a game of the year candidate. The Trout will need a stronger start to best the first place Wolves in a critical late season showdown.
Player to Watch – Angus MacDonell has been incredible of late, with six goals and nine points in his last five. His clutch game-tying goal against Sudbury helped the Steelheads pick up a point in the contest, and the Trout stand a good chance of leaving this massive game with two if MacDonell continues his strong play.
The Opponent – The Wolves remain as hot as ever, with seven wins in their last 10. The Steelheads will need to shut down their star trio of David Goyette, Quentin Musty, and Dalibor Dvorsky, who lit up the scoreboard two weeks ago in Mississauga.
