SmartStop Post Game Recap – Steelheads Battle Battalion Until the Final Buzzer
BRAMPTON, ON – The Brampton Steelheads faceoff against the North Bay Battalion for the fifth time this season.
The Steelheads are back at the CAA Centre to face the North Bay Battalion. Their last matchup Thursday ended in a shootout, so the Trout were ready to bring that same intensity from puck drop.
Today also marked the Steelheads’ annual Family Day Game. Fans had the opportunity to enjoy a full slate of family-friendly activities, including face painting, a balloon artist, and the opportunity to hit the ice for a postgame skate with the team.
The game kicked off with strong intensity, with both teams coming out playing with high energy.
The second half of period one brought multiple shot opportunities from both sides, ending with a goal from North Bay’s Parker Vaughan with twenty two left on the clock. This gave North Bay their first of the night.
The second period opened with 3 back to back unanswered goals from the Battalion, bringing the score to 4-0 for North Bay.
Despite the minor setback, Brampton did not let the lead bring their spirits down. The Trout game came back strong and responded with two goals within 5 minutes, putting the score to 4-2. Macgregor Richmond delivered the first, followed by Julian DeMiglio nailing the second.
North Bay Battalion finished off the period by scoring their fifth of the night, increasing their lead to 5-2.
The third period had a slow start, with both sides making multiple shot attempts, but nothing falling.
Brampton brought things back with Troy Patton scoring at 10:55, bringing the score to 3-5 for North Bay. This marked Patton’s tenth goal of the season
Brampton took many shots in the remaining seconds of the game, but were unable to land any in before the buzzer. Final score 5-3 for North Bay.
