Brampton Steelheads Select Two Forwards in CHL Import Draft
Steelheads take left winger Matej Stankoven from Slovakia and centre Tinus Luc Koblar from Norway.
BRAMPTON, ON – The Brampton Steelheads bolstered their roster on Wednesday morning during the 2025 CHL Import Draft, selecting Matej Stankoven from Slovakia and Tinus Luc Koblar from Norway.
Stankoven, a skilled forward from Bratislava, Slovakia, was chosen from the Slovan Bratislava Jr. program, where he tallied 28 points (15 goals, 13 assists) in 29 games during the 2024–25 season. The 17-year-old has also represented Slovakia on the international stage, including at the U17 Youth Olympic Games, showcasing his high-end skating and offensive creativity.
Koblar, a 6’3”, 185-pound center from Oslo, Norway, was selected from the Leksands IF J20 program in Sweden. Known for his strong two-way play, vision, and high hockey IQ, the left-shot center posted 45 points (18 goals, 27 assists) in 42 games with Leksand’s junior team last season. Koblar was recently selected 64th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft and is considered one of the top Norwegian prospects in recent years.
