Ardagh Secures Brampton’s Second Consecutive Win in Overtime
BRAMPTON, ON – Ardagh Secures Win for Brampton in Overtime, Kickstarting a Two-Game Win Streak.
The Brampton Steelheads returned to the CAA Centre to face the Owen Sound Attack for the final time this season. After a 2-1 win in overtime against the 67’s, the Trout were eager to get a winning streak going before the end of their season.
Today also marked the third and final School Day Game of the season, inviting multiple local schools to take a break from their studies to cheer on the team.
The first period offered the Steelheads many scoring opportunities, outshooting the Attack 9-3.
At 14:29, Brampton killed their first penalty of the game, regaining momentum and shifting the pressure back onto Owen Sound. The period ended with a score of 0-0.
Trout got an early start into the second with Manuel Amado scoring the first of the game, with an assist from Keaton Ardagh.
Minutes later, the Attack responded with a game-tying goal, putting the score at 1-1.
The Steelheads kept the energy high, killing three more penalties, ending the period with a score of 1-1.
Period three brought many powerplay and shot opportunities for both sides, but neither team could get one to go.
Halfway through the third, the Steelheads got a beautiful save from Zach Bowen, recovering from behind the net to prevent the Attack from taking the lead.
The score at the end of period three was 1-1, meaning Brampton was heading into overtime.
OT started with a few close calls, with Owen Sound quickly putting up three shots, but the Trout weren’t going to let that slide. At 3:59, after receiving a pass from David Green, making his return to the ice, Keaton Ardagh came down the ice for a 1 v 1 opportunity, sinking the shot, winning it for Brampton in overtime.
The Brampton Steelheads return home to the CAA Centre on Friday, March 13, to host Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Night, where they will once again take on the Ottawa 67s.
