Spirit close Erie showcase with Otters matinee
Erie, Penn. – The Saginaw Spirit battle the Erie Otters Sunday, September 3rd at Erie Insurance Arena in their second preseason contest of 2023. Saginaw looks to improve after yesterday’s 4-2 loss to the Brantford Bulldogs.

Scouting the Spirit
Saginaw continues to evaluate its crop of young talent in the preseason. Rookies Aiden Young, Jacob Cloutier, Carson Harmer and Graydon Jones get another taste of OHL action. Overager TBone Codd will try to ride the wave of his two-goal performance in yesterday’s game against Brantford.
Spirit fans will see their first glimpse of Braden Haché in the red, white, and blue, and 2023 CHL All-Rookie Team member Zayne Parekh hops into the lineup against the Otters. Rookie goaltender Kaleb Papineau will hop into action alongside veteran Brett Fullerton.
Erie on Home Ice
While it’s a limited sample size, the Otters’ weekend started off in good favor with a 6-2 victory over the Brantford Bulldogs on Friday afternoon. Ondrej Molnar and Dylan Edwards each had three-point nights, while CHL Import draftee Martin Misiak tallied a goal and three assists. Otters goaltenders Jacob Gibbons and Kyle Downey split the load in net, stopping 35 of 37 shots.
After their weekend in Erie, the Spirit will head up to Sault Ste. Marie on September 22nd to visit the Greyhounds. They’ll host the Soo at the Dow Event Center on September 23rd at 7:05pm, and $10 general admission tickets are available here.
