12/04/12 Spirit Acquire Defenseman Nathan Glass from Conference Rival Otters
The Saginaw Spirit announce today that the team has completed a trade with the Erie Otters, acquiring second year defenseman Nathan Glass. In exchange, Saginaw sends a 7th round pick in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection to the Otters. Glass, a native of Las Vegas, Nevada, appeared in 29 games with the Otters this season with no goals and 4 assists. In 90 career games in the OHL, all with Erie, Glass has 10 assists overall, after being the Otters 7th round pick in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection. The trade marks the second transaction involving a defenseman moving over to the Spirit in recent weeks following the acquisition of Jason Shaw from the Belleville Bulls.
The Spirit will now prepare for five straight games against West Division competition leading into the Holiday recess starting on Thursday, December 6 in a 7:11 start against the Sarnia Sting at the Dow Event Center. That game will be the first Saginaw Spirit/WNEM TV5 “Five for Five Night” where fans can use a coupon at Thursday’s game against the Sting to obtain a hot dog, Pepsi, Frito Lay snack, candy bar, and a Spirit cup for five dollars. The coupons will be available on both the Saginaw Spirit and WNEM TV websites.
After a stop in Plymouth for a game against the Whalers on Friday, December 7 at 7:05, the Spirit will round out the week with a home game against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at 7:11, on Saturday, December 8. That game will be the Spirit’s annual Teddy Bear Toss game, co-sponsored by Meijer and 102.5 WIOG FM.
