Chris Lazary was named the Saginaw Spirit Head Coach on November 18, 2018 after serving as an Associate Coach for over two seasons. Lazary has led the Spirit to three ck West Division Championships (2018-19, 2019-20, 2023-2024) and the 2024 Memorial Cup Championship.
Lazary began his coaching career as an Assistant Coach with the St. Michaels Buzzers in the Ontario Junior Hockey League during the 2010-11 season. After two seasons with the Buzzers, Lazary moved on to be an Assistant Coach at his hometown York University. Lazary was hired as Head Coach of the Waterloo Siskins in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League in the 2013. With a roster that featured current OHL players Logan Stanley and Troy Lajeunesse, Lazary led the Siskins to a Midwestern Conference Championship. The next season, Lazary was hired by the Sarnia Sting as an Assistant Coach, where he spent two seasons prior to joining the Spirit.
