Saginaw plays second leg of home-and-home in Windsor Sunday
Windsor, Ont. – The Saginaw Spirit (8-7-0-1) play game two of a home-and-home against the Windsor Spitfires (4-12-1-0) on Sunday, November 12th.

Last Time:
Saginaw defeated the Windsor Spitfires just last night on Saturday, November 11th at the Dow Event Center by a score of 3-1. Dean Loukus and Lincoln Moore each scored their third goals of the year, with Matyas Sapovaliv adding his seventh and extending his point streak to nine games. Oliver Peer scored his eighth of the year for the Spitfires, and Jacob Maillet helped out with an assist. Ian Michelone started for the Spitfires, saving 20 of 23, while Andrew Oke protected the crease for the Spirit, saving 24 of 25 in Saginaw’s fourth consecutive win.
This Season:
Saginaw and Windsor have played one other time this season, on Saturday, October 21st, when the Spitfires took down the Spirit 5-2 at the WFCU Centre. Liam Greentree highlighted a three-point night (2G, 1A) with Oliver Peer, Colton Smith, and Jacob Maillet all adding goals for Windsor. Saginaw’s Valentin Zhugin and Calem Mangone both scored, assisted by Sebastien Gervais and Michael Misa, then PJ Forgione and Hunter Haight. Joey Costanzo manned the crease for Windsor, saving 29 of 31, while Andrew Oke and Nolan Lalonde combined for 23 saves on 26 shots.
Players to Watch:
Zayne Parekh continues to lead the team in points (20) and assists (14) from the backend, while Michael Misa and Valentin Zhugin lead the Spirit with eight (8) goals apiece. Matyas Sapovaliv continues to do well in the faceoff circle, winning 191 of 326 for a solid 58.6% face-off percentage (FO%) and continuing a 9-game point streak with 11 points during that time (6G, 5A). Andrew Oke leads all goaltending categories with 2.68 goals against average (GAA), a .901 save percentage (SV%), and five (5) wins.
Liam Greentree leads the Spitfires in points (21) and goals (10). Oliver Peer leads the team in assists (13), and Cole Davis is tied for sixth in the OHL among rookies in points (9). Joey Costanzo leads Windsor goaltenders with three wins, but Ian Michelone holds the better marks with a 4.98 GAA and .860 SV%.
Saginaw currently has five (5) players drafted to the National Hockey League (NHL), including Joey Willis (Nashville), Matyas Sapovaliv (Vegas), Hunter Haight (Minnesota), Ethan Hay (Tampa Bay), and Braden Haché (Florida). Goaltender Nolan Lalonde was signed as an undrafted free agent (Columbus).
Windsor currently has one (1) player drafted into the National Hockey League (NHL), with Rodwin Dionicio drafted to the Anaheim Ducks.
