Spirit promote Battaino to Vice President of Communications and Broadcasting
Saginaw, MI – Saginaw Spirit President and Managing Partner Craig Goslin announced today (July 29) the organization has elevated Joey Battaino into the position of Vice President of Communications and Broadcasting.
“I am very pleased to promote Joey Battaino into his new and increased role as Vice President of Communications and Broadcasting,” said Goslin. “He has demonstrated outstanding skill and commitment to his role in the broadcast booth and with this promotion, he will continue to demonstrate his skills as an NHL-caliber play-by-play broadcaster, while doing the same with our social/digital media and outreach programs. Joey has developed strong relationships with all of our local media partners that are reflected in the trust that they all have in him. I expect, with his leadership, the Sprit will see an increased presence in our social media outreach and programs that are affiliated with them.”
Battaino, 30, is in his sixth season with the franchise after being hired as the team’s Director of Broadcasting and Communications and play-by-play voice in August of 2015. He has called over 700 games in his career spanning 11 years in junior and professional hockey.
“It is an honor and privilege to receive this promotion from the Saginaw Spirit,” said Battaino. “Thank you to Mr. Dick Garber, Mr. Craig Goslin, and the entire ownership group for their wisdom and guidance to prepare me for this position. I see this as an opportunity to continue to grow personally and professionally and look forward to the challenge ahead.”
While retaining his duties as play-by-play broadcaster and liaison between the Hockey club and the Media, Battaino will spearhead all social and digital marketing efforts by the organization moving forward.
