Matias Vanhanen and Carter Bear (DET) found the back of the net for the Silvertips as Anders Miller stopped 27 shots.

O’Reilly was the recipient of the Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy as tournament MVP after he recorded three goals and eight points in only four games. In the process, he became just the fourth player in CHL history to win regular season and playoff MVP in their respective member league and then collect the same award at the Memorial Cup.

Kitchener opened the scoring at 5:47 as Ellinas got the faintest of tips on Alexander Bilacki’s point shot for his first of the tournament but the lead was short-lived. Vanhanen’s fourth of the tournament came just 28 seconds later after he buried a rebound outfront after Landon DuPont’s initial shot had been saved.

But the Rangers re-took the lead at 13:15 as Sam O’Reilly’s (TB) backhand pass from the wall sprung Edwards in alone and he made no mistake to make it 2-1.

Woolley pushed the Rangers lead to 3-1 at 15:26 of the second as he took Haeden Ellis’ pass off his skate before he picked his spot top shelf from the low slot for his second of the Memorial Cup.

The Rangers needed all of 26 seconds of the third period to make it 4-1 as Pridham slid the puck five-hole on a 5-on-3 power play for his tournament best fifth goal.

Just 37 seconds later it was 5-1 on the power play as O’Reilly was the beneficiary of a fortunate bounce as his shot off a rebound went between Miller’s legs before it hit the right skate of Luke Vlooswyk (PHI) and rolled into the net.

However, the Tips fought back as at 2:59 Julius Miettinen (SEA) found Bear backdoor for his fourth of the tournament to cut the deficit to 5-2 but Humphrey’s secured the win with an empty-net goal with 1:37 to play.

The title is the third in Kitchener’s history after triumph’s in 1982 and 2003. The Kitchener Rangers held an impressive playoff record of 16-2-0 during the 2026 OHL Playoffs.

Round 1: Saginaw Spirit, Round 2: Soo Greyhounds, Round 3: Windsor Spitfires, Round 4: Barrie Colts

The WHL Champion Everett Silvertips captured their first Ed Chynoweth trophy as they beat the Prince Albert Raiders in five games in the WHL Championship series. It was the third time that Everett had made an appearance in the championship series (2004 & 2018). Like the Kitchener Rangers, the Silvertips held a record of 16-2-0-0 during the 2026 WHL Playoffs.

Round 1: Portland Winterhawks, Round 2: Kelowna Rockets, Round 3: Penticton Vees, Round 4: Price Albert Raiders

MEMORIAL CUP RESULTS

Kitchener comes into the Memorial Cup with a perfect 3-0-0-0 record. In their opening game the Rangers blanked the host Rockets by a final score of 5-0, backed by a perfect 24-save performance from Christian Kirsch. Kitchener would then play WHL Champions, Everett. The game was tightly contested through the first half of the game, however the Ranger offence would explode for four-straight goals en route to a 6-2 victory, with Cameron Reid recording three points including the games first goal. The Rangers would then clinch a spot in the final with a 3-2 victory over the QMJHL Champion, Chicoutimi Saguenéens. Dylan Edwards picked up a pair of assists and Jack Pridham scored in his third-straight game, maintaining the Rangers’ perfect record and a bye into the Memorial Cup Final.

Everett would begin their Memorial Cup tournament against Chicoutimi, winning 5-3 on the back of a three-goal second period. Jesse Heslop would earn Player of the Game honours with a multi-point performance. Everett would then play Kitchener where they would drop their first-and-only game 6-2. Everett would then face off against the Kelowna, who they had originally knocked out in the second round of the WHL Playoffs in five games. Everett would dominate, blanking the Rockets 4-0 on the back of a 28-save shutout from Anders Miller. With Kitchener having the bye into the final, Everett would have to play in the semi-final in which they would meet Chicoutimi. Everett dominated once again, defeating the QMJHL champions 6-1. Projected first overall pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Level Draft, Landon DuPont, would score twice, leading the Silvertips into the final against the Rangers.

HEAD TO HEAD

Kitchener beat Everett 6-2 in round robin play which was the first ever matchup between these two clubs. Cameron Reid picked up three points and Player of the Game honours. Jack Pridham also netted two goals adding to his tournament lead and helping the Rangers remain perfect in the tournament. Kitchener is looking for their third Memorial Cup crown in their seventh trip to the final, while Everett reaches the final in their first Memorial Cup appearance.

RANGERS ROUND UP (3-0-0-0)

The Kitchener Rangers needed just three games to secure their place in the 2026 Memorial Cup Final, showcasing their depth, skill, and consistency throughout the tournament. With a perfect 3-0 record in round-robin play, the Blueshirts now have their sights set on re-capturing Memorial Cup glory.

Jack Pridham starred in the round robin leading the Rangers and the tournament in goals (4). The overage forward had a major impact with the Blueshirts since joining the team in the 2024-25 season. Pridham led the team in points with 90 in the regular season and will look to cap off his OHL career with a Memorial Cup win.

After winning both the Red Tilson (League MVP) and the Wayne Gretzky Trophy (Playoff MVP) Sam O’Reilly has been a major part in the Rangers perfect record in the Memorial Cup picking up 4 points (2G, 2A) in the first three games. O’Reilly, who has already picked up a Memorial Cup victory with the London Knights in last year’s tournament, will bring valuable experience to the final game of the season.

Christian Kirsch’s play has been outstanding through the first three games of the tournament. The San Jose Sharks prospect has picked up all three wins recording one shutout and sporting a 1.33 goals against average, as well as a .957 save percentage. Kirsch’s stellar play and outstanding 19-2-0-0 record in post regular season games will look to excel just one more time in the Memorial Cup Final.

Drafted Rangers:
The Kitchener Rangers have a loaded roster of NHL drafted talent. Among twelve players drafted to the NHL, five were selected in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft: Gabriel Chiarot (Vancouver Canucks), Matthew Hlacar (Toronto Maple Leafs), Andrew MacNiel (Montreal Canadians), Cameron Reid (Nashville Predators), and Luca Romano (New York Islanders). The other six players were taken in 2024: Luke Ellinas (Ottawa Senators), Christian Humphreys (Colorado Avalanche), Christian Kirsch (San Jose Sharks), Sam O’Reilly (Tampa Bay Lightning via EDM), Jack Pridham (Chicago Blackhawks), and Jared Woolley (Los Angeles Kings). Matthew Andonovski (Ottawa Senators) was selected in 2023.

SCOUTING THE SILVERTIPS (3-1-0-0)
It took Everett four games to punch its ticket to the 2026 Memorial Cup Final. The Silvertips delivered a strong performance in Friday’s semifinal, defeating the Chicoutimi Saguenéens 6-1 to secure their spot in the championship game. After winning two of three round-robin contests, Everett enters the final with a 3-1-0-0 tournament record.

Matias Vanhanen has led the Silvertips in both points (7) and goals (3) through the round robin and the semi-final games. Vanhanen, a Finish forward who also led the Silvertips in points (87) during the regular season is ranked as high as 35th (TSN/Craig Button) for the upcoming NHL draft, and ranked 54th by NHL Central Scouting amongst North American Skaters for the upcoming draft.

Landon DuPont had a stellar semi-final game leading the Silvertips to the final by netting two goals en route to a 6-1 victory. DuPont is currently the top prospect heading into the 2027 NHL Entry Draft and will look to become the third CHL exceptional status player to win the Memorial Cup joining Sean Day (OSH, 2017) and Micheal Misa (SAG, 2024). DuPont became the first exceptional status defenceman to score at a Memorial Cup tournament and joined Joey Veleno as the second exceptional status player at any position to score in a Memorial Cup game. DuPont was fifth in scoring in the WHL amongst all defencemen as a player who just celebrated his 17th birthday on May 28th.

Carter Bear is tied with Matias Vanhanen for the team lead in goals with three, as well as adding an assist, good enough for four points in as many games. Bear, who is currently the highest drafted player on the roster as he was selected 13th overall by the Red Wings. The Winnipeg, MB native was selected to represent Team Canada at the 2026 World Junior Championship tournament in which he featured in two games. The Red Wings prospect picked up 77 points (36G, 41A) through 53 games and 22 points (7G, 15A) in 18 playoff games.

Drafted Silvertips:
Five players from the Everett Silvertips have heard their names called at the NHL Entry Levell Draft over the past two years. Cameron Reid wired home the game’s first goal in the opening minutes to collect his first Memorial Cup goal. Following a tripping call, the Ranger power play would capitalize with Jack Pridham scoring his second goal of the tournament to give the Rangers an early two-goal lead. However, after a Gabriel Chariot penalty the Silvertips would bring the game to within one as Matias Vanhanen redirected his second of the tournament. In the middle frame, Rylan Gould would pounce on a loose puck to even things up. Shortly after Christian Humphreys would wire home his first goal of the tournament to grab the Rangers the lead once again. The surge would continue as Gabrial Chariot would net his first of the tournament followed up by Jack Pridham’s second of the game, giving the Rangers a 5-2 lead after 40. Cameron Arquette would score the lone 3rd period goal, leading the Rangers to a 6-2 win.

Cameron Reid earned Player of the Game honours in game two as the Ranger Captain recorded a four-point (1G, 3A) night. The Nashville Predators prospect had an excellent playoff run for the Blueshirts as the leading scorer amongst Rangers defenceman with 14 points (2G, 12A) in 18 games. Reid, who also picked up an assist in game one, is now up to five (1G, 4A) points through this year’s Memorial Cup.

Christian Humphreys scored his first goal of the Memorial Cup helping the Rangers to a 6-2 win. Humphreys excelled in the regular season recording 85 points (27G, 58A) in 63 games. His stellar play continued throughout the playoffs as the Colorado Avalanche prospect put up 22 points (9G, 13A) in 18 games.

Jack Pridham scored two more goals on Monday night bringing his team lead to three goals through two games. The former West Kelowna Warrior is finding himself in a comfortable spot once again as he was the leading goal and point getter in the regular season for the Blueshirts. Pridham has already surpassed his goal total from the OHL Playoffs (2) with his three goals thus far in the tournament.

Christian Kirsch excelled in a heavy work load game for the Blueshirts as the Swiss netminder turned away 40-of-42 shots that he faced. Kirsch is a perfect 2-0-0-0 and is holding onto the tournament best save percentage (0.970) and goals against average (1.00).

Drafted Rangers:

The Kitchener Rangers have a loaded roster of NHL drafted talent. Ross. Robertson Cup in franchise history. Sam O’Reilly (3G 3A) and Dylan Edwards (3G 3A) led the way for the Blueshirts in the final series as they each recorded six points in the four-game set.

HEAD-TO-HEAD
Tonight will be the first game that these two franchises face off against each other as Everett makes their first ever Memorial Cup appearance.

RANGERS ROUND UP (16-2-0-0)

The Rangers won their opening Memorial Cup game against the Kelowna Rockets by a final score of 5-0. Christian Kirsch ‘s excellent play from the OHL playoffs continued right into the Memorial Cup as he turned away all 24 shots from the Rockets including a perfect 3/3 penalty kill. Kirsch made history on Friday night becoming the first import goaltender to record a shutout at the Memorial Cup.

Jack Pridham picked up the first star and Player of the Game honours with a goal and an assist in his return to Kelowna as the former West Kelowna Warrior helped the Rangers surge to a 5-0 win. Pridham joined the Rangers in 2024 from the Warriors in the BCHL.

Alexander Bilecki picked up two assists in the Game 1 victory over Kelowna. The draft eligible defenceman has been a key factor in the playoffs for the Rangers as he recorded 11 points (2G, 9A) in 18 games and now through one is game tied for the team lead in points. Bilecki, who was ranked as high as the 49th North American Skater heading into the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, only looks to add to his draft stock here in Kelowna.

Haeden Ellis netted his first career Memorial Cup goal to seal the Ranger win at 5-0. Ellis had a productive regular season with 29 points (14G, 15A) in 63 games as well as 8 points (3G, 5A) in 17 playoff games. The 19 year-old centre has been a key focal point in Kitchener’s middle six and will look to propel his game for the rest of the tournament following a successful Game 1 win.

Drafted Rangers:
The Kitchener Rangers have a loaded roster of NHL drafted talent. Among twelve players drafted to the NHL, five were selected in the 2025 NHL Draft: Gabriel Chiarot (Vancouver Canucks), Matthew Hlacar (Toronto Maple Leafs), Andrew MacNiel (Montreal Canadians), Cameron Reid (Nashville Predators), and Luca Romano (New York Islanders). The other six players were taken in 2024: Luke Ellinas (Ottawa Senators), Christian Humphreys (Colorado Avalanche), Christian Kirsch (San Jose Sharks), Sam O’Reilly (Tampa Bay Lightning via EDM), Jack Pridham (Chicago Blackhawks), and Jared Woolley (Los Angeles Kings). Matthew Andonovski (Ottawa Senators) was selected in 2023.

SCOUTING THE SILVERTIPS (1-0-0-0)

The Everett Silvertips opened their Memorial Cup campaign in style on Saturday, May 23rd, securing a 5-3 victory over the Chicoutimi Saguenéens in an impressive all-around performance. Jesse Heslop led the way and earned Player of the Game honours after putting together a strong two-way effort, finishing with a goal and an assist. Matias Vanhanen also made a major impact on both ends of the ice, capping off his night with a short-handed empty-net goal in the final 20 seconds to seal the result and add extra cushion on the scoreboard. The turning point came in a dominant second period from Everett’s offence. Lukas Kaplan, Zackary Shantz, and Carter Bear struck in quick succession, piling on three goals in a relentless scoring surge.

Everett finished as the top seed in the WHL with a final record of 57-8-2-1, good for 117 points. The team also finished with the most points in the entire CHL and carried their dominating play into the 2026 WHL Playoffs as they went on to hold a 16-2-0-0 record dropping one game in the second round to Kelowna and one game in the Championship Series to Prince Albert.

The 2026 WHL Championship run included series wins against Round One: Portland, Round Two: Kelowna, Round Three: Penticton and Round Four: Prince Albert.

Julius Miettinen led the team in scoring during their playoff run and was third in team scoring during the regular season. The Finnish forward came over from Finland in 2023 and has played with the Silvertips ever since. The Seattle second-round draft pick recorded 76 points (35G, 41A) in 52 games as well as picking up 27 points (14G, 13A) in 18 games in the playoffs.

Carter Bear highlights this Everett team as the Detroit Red Wings selected Bear 13th overall in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft where he has been a key factor in Everett’s deep playoff run. Bear recorded 77 points (36G, 41A) in just 53 games as well as 22 points (7G, 15A) in 18 playoff games. Bear also spent time with team Canada in the World Junior Championships, finding himself in the lineup for two games.

Landon Dupont led the Silvertips from the back end as the top 2027 NHL draft prospect recording 73 points (18G, 55A) in 63 games. Dupont earned exceptional status in 2024 allowing him to be picked 1st overall in the 2024 WHL Priority Draft. Dupont also picked up 23 points (5G, 18A) in 18 games this postseason.

Drafted Silvertips:
Five players from the Everett Silvertips have heard their names called at the NHL Draft over the past two years. In 2025, Carter Bear (Detroit Red Wing), Shea Busch (Florida Panthers), Luke Vlooswyk (Philadelphia Flyers). Julius Miettinen (Seattle Kraken), and Tarin Smith (Anaheim Ducks) were selected in the 2024 NHL Draft.

Broadcast Coverage:
All games will be broadcasted live on TSN/RDS in Canada and on The NHL Network in the United States.
