Rangers sign Free Agent Defenceman Max Dirracolo
Kitchener, ON – The Kitchener Rangers announced today that they have signed free agent Max Dirracolo to an OHL scholarship and development agreement with the club.
“We would like to welcome Max to our organization,” said Kitchener Rangers General Manager Mike McKenzie. “He is a big, physical defenseman that has lots of potential to be a really solid OHL defender. We take pride in trying to find free agent players who have been passed over and we are excited to have Max join the likes of players like Kyle Gentles, Arber Xhekaj, Jonathan Yantsis and Adrian Misaljevic as recent free agent signings who have played for our club.”
The left-shot defenceman currently plays for the Toronto Patriots of the Ontario Junior Hockey League where he has recorded eight assists in 24 games played so far this season. Before playing for the Patriots, Dirracolo grew up playing his minor hockey with the Barrie Colts AAA Minor Hockey Association.
This signing marks the first free agent acquisition since the signing of Adrian Misaljevic in December 2021 who has since become a leading goal scorer for the club. Dirracolo brings a powerful presence to the Rangers, standing at 6’4 and 216 pounds. He will make his debut in his home town of Barrie tonight and will wear number 25 for the Rangers.
At the halfway mark of the season, the Rangers are first in the OHL and ranked second in week 11 of the CHL power rankings with a 23-8-2-0 record. After tonight’s game, the Rangers will take a 13-day break before they return to the Aud on December 29th to take on the Flint Firebirds at The Aud.
