This Season:

The Rangers and Spitfires played four games during the 2025-26 regular season, with Kitchener winning three matchups and Windsor earning one victory. The Rangers took the first three meetings (OT 3-2, 7-2, and 3-0), while the Spitfires responded with a 5-2 win in the final game. On the road, Kitchener went 1-1 in Windsor, while posting a 2-0-0-0 record at the Aud. The most recent meeting came on Sunday, March 8th, in Windsor, where the Rangers dropped a game by a score 5-2. Cameron Reid opened the scoring for Kitchener in the fourteenth minute of the first period. Jack Pridham tied the score in the second period with a power-play goal, which became the final goal for the Rangers. Both Kitchener (Midwest) and Windsor (West) were crowned division champions in their respective division.

This season, however, Windsor advanced to the third round after defeating the Guelph Storm in the first round in four straight games and then the Flint Firebirds in the second round, also in four games. The Spitfires earned eight straight victories, showing strong potential entering the Conference Finals. This matchup between Kitchener and Windsor marks their second-straight postseason meeting in the OHL Playoffs.

Spitfires Round Two:

The Windsor Spitfires have six players on their roster who have been drafted to the NHL. Jack Nesbitt (Philadelphia Flyers) was selected in 2025, while AJ Spellacy (Chicago Blackhawks), Jakub Fibigr (Seattle Kraken), Liam Greentree (New York Rangers), and Nathan Villeneuve (Seattle Kraken) were drafted in 2024. Alex Pharand (Chicago Blackhawks) heard his name called in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Spitfires to Watch:

Liam Greentree headlines a physical Windsor team as the 6’3 tall, New York Ranger prospect is tied for first in points thus far. Greentree's ten points (5G, 5A) is matched by defencemen Jakub Fibigr and Anthony Cristoforo. Greentree featured in 54 regular season games, while also being selected to represent Team Canada at the World Juniors in Minnesota. The Spitfires' captain recorded 74 points (38G, 36A) in those 54 games.

While providing strong defensive support for Windsor, Fibigr is tied for the team lead in points this post-season, recording two goals and eight assists. He is tied with one teammate for the team lead in power-play points with four. The defenceman has also recorded one power-play goal and one game-winning goal. This marks his third straight appearance in the OHL Playoffs, adding valuable experience heading into this round.

Jack Nesbitt is the highest drafted player on the Spitfires rosters. The Flyers prospect was selected 12th overall in this year’s past NHL Entry Draft. Through the playoffs, the forward has recorded nine points (6G, 3A) through eight games. Nesbitt another big forward listed at 6’4 will look to take part in a physical series with the Blueshirts.

Anthony Cristoforo has picked up right where he left in the regular season through the first two rounds of the playoffs. As mentioned, he is tied for first on the team in points through the first two rounds with ten points (2G, 8A) after recording back-to-back 60 point seasons as a defenceman.

TORONTO – The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) today announced finalists for the Red Tilson Trophy, presented annually to the OHL’s Most Outstanding Player as voted by the League’s accredited writers and broadcasters.

This year’s Red Tilson Trophy finalists include:

Cole Beaudoin (C, Barrie Colts) – 54 GP, 33 G, 56 A, 89 PTS.
A workhorse down the middle for the Barrie Colts, Utah Mammoth first round draft pick Cole Beaudoin produced at a clip of 1.65 points-per-game and won 55% of his faceoffs during the season. The Kanata, ON native finished tied for the league-lead in game-winning goals with 10, and was recently named the OHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Year, earning the William Hanley Trophy for his disciplined approach. Beaudoin was a key part of Canada’s National Junior Team and was voted the Eastern Conference’s hardest worker, best on faceoffs, best defensive forward and best penalty killer on the OHL Coaches Poll.

Jake O’Brien (C, Brantford Bulldogs) – 53 GP, 28 G, 65 A, 93 PTS.
Brantford Bulldogs captain Jake O’Brien led the OHL with a 1.75 point-per-game production rate, fuelling a power play that, statistically, ended the season as the best in OHL history at 34.8%. O’Brien’s 41 power play points paced the league while he remained a force at even strength, finishing the campaign with a plus-34 rating. The Seattle Kraken first round NHL Draft pick rounded-out his third season as the Bulldogs’ career leader in points with 255 (73-182–255). The OHL Player of the Month for October, O’Brien’s 65 assists led all players and energized the league’s most potent offence. He was voted the Eastern Conference’s smartest player and best playmaker in the OHL Coaches Poll.

Nathan Aspinall (LW, Flint Firebirds) – 65 GP, 33 G, 61 A, 94 PTS.
Flint Firebirds captain Nathan Aspinall turbocharged his offensive production with a 47-point improvement to lead the Flint Firebirds to their best season in the club’s 10-year history. The 6-foot-7 Aspinall set a new club record with 61 assists while scoring 33 goals and placing fifth in OHL shots on goal with a total of 250. He was also a fast-starter, tying for the OHL lead in first goals with eight while also converting on four of six shootout attempts during the season. Aspinall was the OHL Player of the Month for November and appeared in hardest shot and best playmaker categories in the Western Conference portion of the OHL Coaches Poll.

Sam O’Reilly (C, Kitchener Rangers) – 56 GP, 29 G, 42 A, 71 PTS.
Perhaps the biggest splash of the OHL trade deadline, the Kitchener Rangers acquisition of Sam O’Reilly from the rival London Knights has paid big dividends for the Blueshirts. O’Reilly’s arrival sparked the Rangers to a big second half that saw them finish atop the Western Conference standings for the first time since 2008. After posting 28 points (12-16–28) in as many games with London, O’Reilly stepped-up his production in Kitchener with 43 points (17-26–43) over 28 contests, all while finishing the season with a 58% success rate in the faceoff circle. A member of Canada’s National Junior Team, the Tampa Bay Lightning prospect factored prominently into the OHL Coaches Poll, being voted the Western Conference’s smartest player, best on faceoffs and best defensive forward.

Nikita Klepov (RW, Saginaw Spirit) – 67 GP, 37 G, 60 A, 97 PTS.
The first rookie to lead the OHL in scoring since Patrick Kane of the 2006-07 London Knights, Nikita Klepov enters the 2026 NHL Draft as the eighth-ranked North American skater on NHL Central Scouting’s final rankings released last week. The shifty winger follows Michael Misa as the second-straight Spirit player to earn the Eddie Powers Trophy as the OHL’s leading scorer, while also joining Misa in elite company as an OHL Rookie of the Year Award winner. The Deerfield Beach, Florida product piled up 38 points on the power play and went 4-for-6 in shootout attempts. He was recognized as the Western Conference’s most dangerous player in the goal area and best shootout shooter in the OHL Coaches Poll.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Game 4:

The Kitchener Rangers had a chance to sweep back-to-back playoff series for the first time since 2008, but it was the Greyhounds who spoiled the party. The Blueshirts scored twice in the opening period but were held off the scoresheet for the remaining 40 minutes as the Greyhounds score four unanswered goals to force a Game 5 in Kitchener on Friday night.

Cameron Arquette and Matthew Hlacar chipped in with their first goals on the playoffs to give Kitchener a two-goal advantage after the opening 20 minutes. Neither team found the back of the net in the middle frame holding the 2-0 scoreline into the final period. However, the Greyhounds responded with a strong third period scoring three times in a five minute span to take the lead with just over ten minutes to play in regulation. With the Rangers net empty, Marco Mignosa secured the Hounds victory with an empty net goal.

SCOUTING THE RANGERS (7-1-0-0)

Rangers to Watch:

Cameron Arquette opened the scoring early, giving Kitchener the jump to start the game. He continues to contribute this postseason, now up to three points (1G, 2A) through eight games. In his second OHL playoff run, Arquette is already showing more confidence and impact compared to last year, when he recorded one goal and four assists in 16 games. Arquette has been a driving force on a pesky third line for the Kitchener Rangers that has been a handful for teams to deal with and have made their presence felt this postseason.

Christian Humphreys has been held pointless over the last two games and is destined to breakout in Game 5. Humphreys still leads the way in the points column for the Rangers accumulating eleven points (5G, 6A) in eight games. He will need to be a driver of offence for the Rangers at even strength and with the man advantage where he has six of his eleven points in the playoffs.

Goaltending:

Christian Kirsch

Kirsch suffered his first playoff loss on Thursday night, but still owns an impressive 7-1-0-0 record. Kirsch stood tall in net for Kitchener in Sault Ste. Marie on Thursday, turning aside 29-of-32 shots. He finished the night with a .906 save percentage and a 3.10 goals-against average, giving the Rangers a reliable presence between the pipes.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS (5-4-0-0)

Greyhounds to Watch:

Jordan Charron was a difference-maker in Game 4, finding the back of the net twice and driving the comeback effort. He doubled his playoff goal tally and now sits on three goals and one assist through nine playoff games. Last year marked his first playoff appearance, where he managed to record an assist, but this time around he’s already far surpassed that mark. Charron earned first star honours in Game 4, highlighting his impact when it mattered most.

Callum Croskery was named second star after picking up two assists on Thursday, playing a key role in generating offence from the back end. He now has five points (1G, 4A) through nine games and provides reliable minutes on the blue line in his first playoff appearance.

Goaltending:

Carter George

Carter George was perfect after the opening 20 minutes playing a huge role in helping the Soo Greyhounds force a Game 5 in Kitchener. TheGreyhounds netminder improved to a .910 save percentage with a 2.29 goals-against average through nine playoff games.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Game 3:

Game 3 marked Kitchener’s third straight win in the series, as they edged out Soo by a score of 4-3 at the GFL Memorial Gardens. Haeden Ellis opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the first period, but Quinn McKenzie responded just two minutes later. The second period belonged solely to Dylan Edwards, who scored the first of his three goals of the night. Brady Martin answered early in the third period, striking just two minutes in, but Edwards restored Kitchener’s lead with his second tally. Chase Reid brought the Greyhounds back level with a power-play goal midway through the period, but it wasn’t enough, as Edwards sealed the game by completing his hat trick.

SCOUTING THE RANGERS (7-0-0-0)

Rangers to Watch:

Dylan Edwards stole the spotlight on Tuesday, recording a hat trick just one game after Sam O’Reilly notched his own. Edwards now sits at 10 points (7G, 3A) through seven games, tied with the other two Rangers. He was named the first star of the game for the second consecutive matchup, continuing to drive Kitchener’s offence and stepping up in important moments.

Haeden Ellis scored his third goal of the playoffs to open the scoring for the Blueshirts. All three of his goals have come in this second round series against the Soo Greyhounds, and has opened the scoring in two of the three games. Ellis has added two assists to those three goals, giving him five points thus far, ranking seventh on the team in scoring.

Jack Pridham was a team leader throughout much of the regular season, though his role has slightly shifted in the playoffs. While he remains a key contributor to the overall effort, he now ranks fourth on the team in postseason scoring with 10 points, all coming from assists. The Chicago Blackhawks prospect picked up two helpers on Tuesday and continues to create opportunities for his teammates, though he is still searching for hist first goal of the series.

Goaltending:

Christian Kirsch earned his seventh straight win in his first OHL playoff appearance. The goaltender finished Tuesday’s game with a .857 save percentage and a 3.00 goals-against average, stopping 18-of-21 shots.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS (4-4-0-0)

Greyhounds to Watch:

Brady Martin earned second star honours after recording a multi-point night with a goal and assist. That performance brings his postseason totals to three goals and seven assists. The forward has already appeared in two previous OHL Playoffs, making this his third postseason, with Game 3 being his 25th career playoff appearance. Martin has shown significant progress, already producing nearly twice as many points this postseason compared to his combined totals from the previous two.

Quinn McKenzie scored his fourth goal of the post-season, giving him goals in three straight games. The Greyhound forward has notched six points (4G, 2A) in his first ever OHL playoff run. He also leads the Greyhounds in goals this series.

Chase Reid earned third star recognition following his standout performance on Tuesday. He registered three points (1G, 2A) in Game 3, including a power play goal. Reid now has six points (3G, 3A) in eight playoff appearances, with half of that production coming last game. The defenceman continues to play at an elite level, contributing at both ends of the ice and reinforcing his role as a key piece of the team’s lineup as the series evolves.

Goaltending:
Carter George stopped 20-of-24 shots faced in game three. Despite a 4-4 record, the Los Angeles Kings Prospect has a .910 save percentage to go along with a 2.32 goals against average. George has also faced the third amount of shots this playoffs with 223 as well as the third most saves with 203.

Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. – The Kitchener Rangers defeated the Soo Greyhound by a final score of 4-3 Tuesday night to take a commanding 3-0 series lead and push the Greyhounds to the brink of elimination. After Sam O’Reilly scored three in Game 2, Dylan Edwards played hat trick hero in Game 3 making it back-to-back playoff games with a hat trick for the Blueshirts. Edwards capped off his hat trick with the game winning goal with just over six minutes to play in regulation.

The Rangers opened the scoring for the third-straight game in this series, with Haeden Ellis being the benefactor of a sweet feed from NHL draft eligible defenceman, Alexander Bilecki. Just three minutes after that, the Soo answered with their first equalizer coming at the hands of Quinn McKenzie. Ties entered the first break tied 1-1. Dylan Edwards’ first-of-three was the lone goal of the second period giving the Rangers the lead after 40 minutes of play.

The third period proved to be another entertaining one as the Rangers held the lead on three separate occasions. First, Brady Martin tied the game at 2-2 as a Ranger power play expired. Dylan Edwards got his second goal of the night on the power play to restore the Rangers lead, but the Greyhounds capitalized on a power play of their own to once again tie the game at 3-3. The Rangers didn’t let the game stay tied long as less than a minute later, Dylan Edwards capped off his hat trick performance with a centering pass from behind the net which took a fortuitous bounce off the stick of a Greyhounds defender. Kitchener would hold on for the final six minutes and secure the victory.

They carried that momentum into the third, striking just over a minute in, with Quinn McKenzie giving Soo a 4-3 lead. Kitchener responded quickly, as Dylan Edwards found the back of the net on the power play to even things up. Jeremy Martin answered for the Greyhounds two minutes later, but that would be the Greyhounds’ final push. The Ranger forward led the charge in the third as he evened the game up shortly after Quinn McKenzie gave the Greyhounds the lead. He then scored the game winner just over ten minutes later on an tic-tac-toe with Jared Woolley and Jack Pridham.

Sam O’Reilly made a major impact in Game 2, recording the first hat-trick for the Rangers in these playoffs and the first of his OHL career. Mignosa now ranks fourth overall in playoff scoring across the OHL.

Jeremy Martin also showcased his offensive abilities, matching Mignosa with two goals in the game. While he sits at seven points (4G, 3A), which is half of the team leader’s total, Martin continues to contribute consistently and has recorded his fourth goal of the postseason.
