Rangers name Nick Policelli team Captain, Eminger, Roy, Ramsay named alternates
The Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club today named overage defenceman Nick Policelli as their team captain for the 2001-2002 season.

Policelli, a physical defenceman currently in his 4th season, was acquired this summer in a trade with the Belleville Bulls. The 20-year-old Sarnia native was the team captain of the Belleville Bulls last season.

Ranger veteran centers Derek Roy and Ryan Ramsay in addition to defenceman Steve Eminger were named alternate captains. All three players are in their 3rd season in the OHL and are 1983 birth dates.

The Rangers will open the home portion of their 2001-2002 OHL season on Friday night when they host the Sarnia Sting. Game time is 7:30 pm at The Aud. More than 4,000 tickets have already been sold for the game with good seats still available. The first 1,500 fans attending the game will be provided a hot dog and soft drink special of $1 courtesy of J.M. Schneider Inc. and Coca Cola.

A special pre-game fireworks/pyrotechnics show introducing the Ranger players will begin on ice at 7:15 pm on Friday night.

The Rangers (1-0-0-0 record) impressed in their 1st regular season game of the year with a 4-1 win in Guelph against the Guelph Storm last Sunday.
