“We are excited to add Eduard and Olivier to our group,” said Rangers General Manager Mike McKenzie. “They will help our team this season and have the potential to help next season as well. Our goal heading into the deadline was to keep our young talent but also improve our team to give our staff and players a chance to win as many games as possible down the stretch and heading into playoffs.”
Heading to Barrie in the trade are Kyle Morey and Blair Scott. Morey was originally drafted by Owen Sound in 2021 in the fifth round and was acquired by the Rangers ahead of the 2022-23 season. The Kitchener native has played 85 games and has tallied six goals and 11 assists. Scott, who is also Kitchener-born, was drafted by the Soo in 2021 in the fifth round and was picked up by the Rangers early last season, and has since dressed in 29 games. The defenceman has registered one goal which came against the Colts on December 16th, 2023.
“It is extremely difficult to trade any player but when they are local players like Kyle and Blair, it makes it extra difficult,” McKenzie said. “Hopefully, the moves provide both guys with more opportunities to grow their game. We thank Kyle and Blair for their contributions to our club and wish them all the best in Barrie.”
