OHL talent ready for 2019 NHL Draft
Vancouver is the site of the stage for Ontario Hockey League stars to take the next step towards their National Hockey League dreams at the 2019 NHL Draft.
48 OHL players are listed in NHL Central Scouting’s Final Rankings with the results ready to unfold Friday night with 31 first round picks beginning at 8:00 pm ET followed by rounds two through seven starting Saturday at 1:00 pm ET. All the action can be seen coast-to-coast on Sportsnet.
Headlining the list of OHL prospects in the first round conversation is Arthur Kaliyev of the Hamilton Bulldogs, defenceman Thomas Harley of the Mississauga Steelheads, Philip Tomasino of the Niagara IceDogs, Nick Robertson of the Peterborough Petes, and Ryan Suzuki of the Barrie Colts all ranked inside the top 20 North American skaters.
Since 1969, a total of 2,354 OHL players have been selected in the NHL Draft representing over 20% of all players chosen by clubs and a figure higher than any other league solidifying the OHL as the number one supplier of NHL talent.
One year ago the OHL enjoyed another strong showing at the 2018 NHL Draft in Chicago with 35 players selected including seven first round picks.
