1) The best-of-seven opening round playoff series between the Kitchener Rangers and Owen Sound Attack shifts to the Aud tonight for Game 3. The Attack picked up a convincing 9-1 win in Game 1 on Friday, while the Rangers rebounded with a 2-1 decision on Saturday night at the Bayshore.
2) The Rangers skated into the series with ten roster players making their OHL playoff debuts (Yantsis, Guest, Meireles, Richardson, Schiemenz, Damiani, Gentles, Peterson, Seitz and Vallati).
3) The Owen Sound Attack have seen four members of their team dress in their first career playoff games this postseason (Sushko, Cameron, Dudas, Roberts).
4) The Kitchener Rangers finished the regular season with the 6th ranked power play in the OHL, executing at 21.6%. They currently sit 15th in postseason power play efficiency at 10% (1-for-10).
5) The Owen Sound Attack finished the regular season with the top ranked power play in the OHL, executing at 28.4%. They currently sit 12th in postseason power play efficiency at 18.2% (2-for-11).
6) The Rangers finished the regular season with the 19th ranked penalty kill in the OHL, finishing at 77.7%. They currently sit 5th in the postseason on the PK at 81.8% (9-for-11).
7) The Attack finished the regular season with the 3rd ranked penalty kill in the OHL, finishing at 83.5%. They currently sit 2nd in the postseason on the PK at 90.0% (9-for-10).
8) Saturday night in Owen Sound marked the first career OHL playoff win for Rangers’ goaltender Luke Opilka. He earned the 2-1 win by turning aside 40 consecutive shots by the Attack.
9) The 2017 OHL Playoffs marks the sixth-time Kitchener and Owen Sound have met in the postseason. The Rangers earned series victories in 2012 (4-1) and 2005 (4-0), while the Attack/Platers earned wins in 2006 (4-1), 1998 (4-2) and 1994 (4-1).
10) Attack defenceman Markus Phillips sits tied for third in the playoffs for shots on goal with 13 in two games.
11) Rangers’ forward Jonathan Yantsis is the lone OHL rookie to have registered a game winning goal to this point in the playoffs.
12) Owen Sound goaltender Michael McNiven leads OHL goaltenders in the playoffs in GAA (1.51) and SV% (0.941%).
