Game Recap: Rangers Rebound for Big Road Win
ERIE, PA – Just call them the comeback kids.
After falling to the Otters on home ice Friday, the Rangers fell behind 3-0 in Erie on Saturday. But Kitchener’s youthful line-up chipped away at the deficit and scored a timely power play goal with 33 seconds to play, forcing overtime at the Erie Insurance Arena. And that’s where Tanner Lam scored his team-leading third goal of the season to send the Rangers to victory just under one minute into the extra period. The gutsy win gives Kitchener a split of the weekend home-and-home series with Erie.
Weston Cameron led the way for the Rangers with two goals, while Alexander Bilecki chipped in with two assists. Mason Hriczov made his first start in goal, making 25 saves to pick up his first OHL win. Michael Dec and Maclean Agrette had three points apiece for the Otters, with each collecting a goal and an assist.
The Rangers now have a 2-2 record to start the season, but the work this weekend isn’t done yet. Kitchener will try again for its first home win of the season as they welcome the Kingston Frontenacs to the Aud on Sunday night. Kingston has dropped back-to-back games.
