Head- to- Head:
The Rangers fell short in a shootout on Wednesday, September 6th against Brantford in a 5-4 loss. In their previous 13 matches, Kitchener has the advantage over Brantford holding a 7-5-0-1 record dating back to the 2015-16 season. Impressively the Blueshirts record on home ice is 5-1-0-0 against the Bulldogs.
Scouting the Rangers:
Carson Rehkopf leads the team with four points (2G, 2A) in the Ranger’s first two preseason games. Against Brantford on Wednesday, Rehkopf had a three-point night (2G, 1A). Tomas Hamara recorded two points (1G, 1A) in Wednesday night’s game in Brantford and Mitchell Martin has now recorded three points in the preseason (1G, 2A) both assists against Brantford. The Rangers have tallied eight different goal-scorers already in this exhibition season.
Tomas Hamara (Ottawa Senators ‘22), Carson Rehkopf (Seattle Kraken ‘23), Hunter Brzustewicz (Vancouver Canucks ‘23), and Matthew Andonovski (Ottawa Senators ‘23) are four Kitchener skaters drafted by their NHL clubs respectively.
Scouting the Bulldogs:
Lawson Sherk leads the Bulldogs through their first three preseason games with three points (2G, 1A), a secondary assist came against the Rangers on Wednesday. Jake O’Brien has played in all three games so far grabbing his first OHL preseason goal against the Rangers.
The Bulldogs had four players drafted in the 2023 NHL Draft, with Nick Lardis being their highest draft pick in the second round by the Chicago Blackhawks. Florian Xhekaj was drafted by the Montreal Canadians in the fourth round, Patrick Thomas was chosen three picks behind Xhekaj 104th overall by the Washington Capitals in the fourth round, and Cole Brown was picked by the New Jersey Devils in the sixth round. Jorian Donovan was drafted in the 2022 NHL Draft by the Ottawa Senators in the fifth round.

The Rangers drop the puck on the regular season Friday, September 29 when the East Avenue Blue host the Saginaw Spirit. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.
