Game Preview: Rangers close out busy weekend and unveil Retro Jersey
KITCHENER, ON – The Kitchener Rangers have given themselves a chance for a winning weekend. After a Friday night comeback at home to Erie fell just short, the Rangers pulled off a thrilling come-from-behind win on the road last night in Pennsylvania. Tanner Lam’s overtime winner ended the game that saw the Rangers overcome a 3-0 deficit to win 4-3. The Kingston Frontenacs are at the Aud tonight, posing the final test of a three-game weekend for the Rangers. Don’t miss a minute of the action!

THE OPPONENT
The Frontenacs opened their season with a pair of wins against divisional foes, defeating Peterborough and Ottawa to open the season 2-and-0. It’s been a different story this weekend, though, as Kingston dropped a 5-3 decision at home to Sarnia on Friday night before being blasted 10-4 last night in Brantford. The Frontenacs finished last season in sixth place in the Eastern Conference before being swept by the Ottawa 67’s in the first round of the playoffs. Tonight marks the only visit the Frontenacs will make to the Memorial Auditorium this regular season. Tonight is the first of seven games the Rangers will be donning the “Retro Tex’ jersey at home. Full details on this jersey and schedule can be found here.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
The Kitchener Rangers and Kingston Frontenacs play each other just twice each regular season, and the past four years have seen each team win four times. But the home team has held the advantage, with Kitchener winning three of the past four games at the Aud. Kingston’s lone win in the past four years came in the last meeting (November 9, 2025), though, as the Frontenacs ended a three-game losing streak in Kitchener and topped the Rangers 3-2.
RANGERS ROUND UP (2-2-0-0)
Tanner Lam is showing the way for the Rangers so far this season with a team-leading three goals and four points. Alexander Bilecki (TOR) and Luca Romano (NYI) have made their presence felt since returning from NHL training camps, with each picking up two points in their first two games this weekend. Romano had a goal on Friday and an assist Saturday in Erie, while Bilecki chipped in with two assists Saturday night, his second coming on the overtime-winning goal. Weston Cameron scored his first two goals of the season Saturday night, including the game-tying goal that forced overtime with just over half a minute to play in the third period.
SCOUTING THE FRONTENACS (2-2-0-0)
Kingston is being led by a trio of players with five points through four games this season. Alex McLean (3g, 2a), Nolan Buttar (2g, 3a), and Nolan Snyder (2g, 3a) are setting the tone for the Frontenacs’ offense. Slovakian import Adam Goljer (2nd round, 47th overall, LA Kings) is another player to watch. Goljer scored his first OHL goal in the Frontenacs’ loss last night in Brantford. Goljer won a silver medal at the IIHF U18 Men’s World Championships last year, while also taking home Defenceman of the Tournament honours. Along with Goljer, fellow defenceman Andre Mondoux is also NHL drafted, going to the New York Rangers in the 6th round (162nd overall) of the 2026 draft. Goaltender Matthew Minchak was also a 6th-round pick in June, going 191st overall to the Vegas Golden Knights.
