Bring your spuds or cash donations to The Aud for Potato Night this Friday night vs. the Saginaw Spirit
House of Friendship’s February Potato Blitz mascot Spuddy and former Kitchener Rangers’ broadcaster Don Cameron join Rangers players Connor Bunnaman, Joseph Garreffa and Adam Liška inviting fans to donate cash and potatoes at this year’s Don Cameron Potato Night, set for Friday, January 26 at 7:30 pm when the Rangers host the visiting Saginaw Spirit.
In its 21-year history, Rangers fans have raised the equivalent of nearly half a million pounds of potatoes for families in need through Don Cameron Potato Night.
Last year, fans brought in over 6,000 lbs. of potatoes, which was matched by Zehrs Market Stores, as well as $7,300 in cash donations. Combined, this translated into nearly 50,000 lbs. of potatoes – a great kick start to February Potato Blitz.
Each year, House of Friendship uses more than 300,000 pounds of potatoes in its emergency food hampers and food assistance programs. When the potatoes run out, cash donations are used to buy more potatoes to meet ongoing needs.
Don Cameron Potato Night is the first of three February Potato Blitz events, including the Supermarket Potato Blitz on Saturday, February 10 and the Community Potato Lunch on Friday, February 23.
If you are unable to attend any of the February Potato Blitz events, donations can also be made online.
