FINAL: Rangers 2, Otters 6
The Kitchener Rangers remained in Erie to complete the weekend doubleheader on Sunday, April 3rd, and looked for a rematch after being defeated in overtime on Saturday.
The first period looked similar to the action on Saturday, with lots of back and forth activity and physical play from both teams. The Otters struck first with a goal from #71 Colby Saganiuk (Assists: #74 Noah Sedore, #73 Connor Lockhart) three minutes into the frame. Pavel Cajan flashed the pads frequently during the remainder of the period to keep Erie up by only one at the end of the 1st.
The Otters come out flying at the beginning of the second – as they score two powerplay goals in concession to put them up 3-0 with 17:35 left in the period ( #73 Connor Lockhart scores, assists: #17 Daniel D’Amato, #15 Christian Kyrou and #74 Noah Sedore (17) scores, assists: #22 Spencer Sova, #88 Artyom Kulako). Mike Petizian puts the Rangers on the board with a huge shot and goal thanks to a nice pass by Reid Valade with over 10 minutes remaining in the period. Erie responds with another goal to make it 4-1 Otters (#89 Brett Bressette scores, assists: #44 Brendan Sellan, #7 Owain Johnston). The Rangers get a powerplay which becomes a 2-man advantage and are able it capitalize on it with a goal from captain Francesco Pinelli (Assists: Mike Petizian, Roman Schmidt). We exit the period with the Otters leading 4-2.
Erie strikes quickly at the beginning of the third period to score their fifth goal of the game(#73 Connor Lockhart scores, assists: #15 Christian Kyrou, #53 Cameron Morton). The Rangers have more looks at another goal, but Erie continues to add to their lead (#44 Brendan Sellan scores. Assists: #17 Daniel D’Amato, #53 Cameron Morton).
