Petes’ Donovan McCoy named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week
Toronto, Ont. – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that blueliner Donovan McCoy of the Peterborough Petes is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, recording two goals, five assists, and seven points over three contests as the Petes climbed to the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
McCoy had a strong showing in North Bay on Thursday, registering the overtime winner to earn first star honours as the Petes defeated the Battalion 6-5. The 6-foot, 198lb. blueliner found the scoresheet again on Friday, tallying a pair of helpers in a 7-4 win over the Sudbury Wolves. McCoy closed out the week with a goal and three assists including his second overtime winner of the weekend on Sunday as the Petes completed a thrilling 5-0 comeback to defeat the Oshawa Generals 6-5.
A 19-year-old from Belleville, Ont., McCoy has recorded 14 points (3-11-14) through 19 outings this season as the Petes own a record of 12-3-3-1.
