Petes Sign 2023 U18 First Round Pick Nathan Leek to OHL Scholarship and Development Package
Peterborough Petes General Manager Michael Oke announced today that the team has signed Nathan Leek to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
Leek, an Alliston, ON native, was selected in the first round, 11th overall by the Petes in the 2023 OHL U18 Priority Selection. The 6’01”, 2005-born forward played in 35 games for the Barrie Colts U18s last season, leading the OMHAU18 league in scoring with 30 goals and 34 assists for 64 points. Leek also featured in five games for the OJHL’s St. Michael’s Buzzers, recording an assist.
“It’s an amazing feeling to be part of a historic organization like the Petes.” exclaimed Leek. “It’s a dream come true and I’m proud to call myself a Pete.”
“We’re excited to add Nathan to the roster,” noted Petes General Manager Michael Oke. “He’s a big forward with a good shot who has shown an ability to put the puck in the net. We think very highly of Nathan both as a player and a person and we’re happy to have him join the organization.”
The Petes are back in action today for their first of three home preseason games held at local arenas. They host the rival Oshawa Generals at the Jack Burger Sports Complex in Port Hope, with puck drop scheduled for 2:05 p.m. Tickets can still be purchased at the door while supplies last. For fans who can not attend, the game will be streamed live on the Petes Facebook Page.
