On Friday, January 24, the Peterborough Petes visited the Tribute Communities Centre to take on the rival Oshawa Generals. It was the sixth meeting between the two teams this campaign, with Oshawa leading the season series 4-1. Petes second year forward Aiden Young reached a milestone in the game, playing in his 100th OHL matchup. Zach Bowen was back between the pipes for Peterborough after stopping 24 in last night’s win over Saginaw.
After Colby Barlow struck early for the Generals, Edmonton Oilers prospect Brady Stonehouse tied the game up just 1:41 later with his seventh goal of the season. Genc Ula would pick up an assist on the goal, grabbing his fourth point in his last five games. The Petes weren’t done there. Late in the period, Gavin Bryant found Caden Taylor who scored his 12th of the season, giving the Petes a 2-1 lead heading into the break. Stonehouse would pick up the second assist on Taylor’s goal, giving him his 150th career OHL point.
Seven minutes into the second frame, Colin Fitzgerald scored a beauty to put the Petes up 3-1. Brennan Faulkner had the assist, staying hot after picking up three points last night against Saginaw. The Petes would get into trouble late, leading to Colby Barlow completing the hattrick with two more goals, tying the game at 3-3 heading into the third period.
The third period would be all Generals. They’d score three in the frame, winning the game 6-3.
Brady Stonehouse led the way for the Petes with a goal and an assist, giving him 150 career OHL points, while Gavin Bryant had two assists. Caden Taylor and Colin Fitzgerald both scored, as Genc Ula and Brennan Faulkner each picked up an assist. Zach Bowen stopped 42/48 in the loss.
