Petes Select Four Players on Day One of the OHL Priority Selection

The Peterborough Petes made four selections on Day One of the 2025 OHL Priority Selection presented by Real Canadian Super Store.
“We’re very happy with our selections tonight,” noted Oke. “We feel that we’ve added a lot of talent in a lot of different areas. We have another big day coming up tomorrow and are looking forward to getting started.”
With the first pick in the draft, the Petes selected Ottawa Valley Titans Captain and HEO Player of the year, Kaden McGergor. Fans can learn more about this year’s Jack Ferguson Award winner by clicking here.
Next, the Petes selected forward Kieran Raynor with the 27th overall pick in round two. Raynor, a right-handed centre from St. Catharines, ON, featured in 27 games for the Niagara North Stars U16’s this season, scoring 29 goals and adding 23 assists for 52 points. He then added five goals and eight assists for 13 points in eight playoff games, helping the North Stars to a berth in the OMHA Championships and the OHL Cup.
“It’s truly an honour to be drafted by such an amazing organization like the Petes,” said Raynor. “I’m super pumped to get to Peterborough and get started.”
The Petes then selected defenceman Matthew Perreault with the 31st overall pick in round two. Perreault, a right-handed defenceman from Nepean, ON, played for the Toronto Titans last season, scoring twice and picking up 40 assists for 42 points in 56 games. Perreault also featured in 5 games in the 2025 OHL Cup, picking up four assists.
“It’s surreal,” exclaimed Perrault. “It’s a dream come true being selected by the Petes. It’s a moment I’ll never forget.”
Lastly, Peterborough selected forward Gerry DiCunzolo with the 61st overall pick in round three. DiCunzolo, a left-handed centre from Buffalo, NY, featured in 58 games for the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres U15’s this season, scoring 54 goals and adding 86 assists for 140 points.
“It’s truly an honour to hear my name be selected,” proclaimed DiCunzolo. “I am honoured to be part of the Petes organization. I want to take this time to thank my friends, family, coaches, God, advisors, and everyone else who has helped me along the way.”
The Petes will be introducing first overall pick Kaden McGregor in a press conference that will take place on Saturday, April 12, at 8:45 a.m. The press conference will be streamed live on the Petes Facebook Page.
