Petes, PMHC, Petes 5050 Booster Club Donations: PRHC Foundation in Support of Diabetes Care at PRHC
Over the past month, the Peterborough Petes Hockey Club in partnership with the Peterborough Minor Hockey Council and the Petes 50/50 Booster Club made several donations in honour of the late Betty Nelson, one of the longest Petes supporters and a founding member of the Petes Booster Club, which was started during the 1967-68 season.
Betty actively sold 50/50 tickets at nearly every home game at the Peterborough Memorial Centre until she retired in 2019. She was a staple in the Gibson’s Finest Club section.
Over the next couple weeks, the Petes will be highlighting these donations on their social media accounts and website.

This season, Gavin Bryant initiated Gav’s Corner, which aimed at uniting and supporting individuals impacted by Type 1 Diabetes. The dual mission was to support and foster valuable conversations within the Type 1 Diabetes community. The initiative seeks to bring together people who understand the unique challenges of living with Type 1 Diabetes while also advancing the search for a cure. Inspired by his sister’s diagnosis in 2021 and his former roommate in Owen Sound, Mark Wooley, who lives with Type 1 Diabetes, Bryant has seen first-hand what it is like to go through the challenges that this condition poses.
