The Peterborough Petes will be looking for revenge tonight as they head to Brampton to complete a home and home with the Steelheads. Porter Martone and Lucas Karmiris scored in the third period to secure Brampton’s 4-3 win last night at the PMC. The Petes had an opportunity to tie the game with a late five on three powerplay, but could not capitalize, giving the Steelheads the first victory of the four game season series.
Petes captain Jonathan Melee continued his hot streak on Thursday night with two goals. Eight of Melee’s team leading 18 goals have come in his last nine games, making him one of the hottest goal scorers in the OHL right now. Brennan Faulkner (five points in three games) and Colin Fitzgerald (points in three straight) also continued their streaks last night. With the Ottawa 67’s off tonight, a Petes win and a North Bay loss can get Peterborough within seven points of the final playoff spot in the east.
Steelheads captain Porter Martone proved to be the difference in last night’s game with a goal and an assist. After a rough start, Brampton goaltender Brayden Gillespie made several key saves, stopping 28/31 in the victory. Look for the Steelhead’s goaltending to be a factor tonight should they come out with another win.
Fans can catch tonight’s game at the Petes official road game watch party at Shoeless Joe’s Peterborough. It will also be broadcasted on YourTV Peterborough, CHL TV, and Freq 90.5.
