Petes Alumnus Tommy Purdeller Selected for Team Italy’s 2026 Olympic Winter Games Roster
Italy has unveiled its roster for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina, set to be hosted on home ice, with four OHL alumni named among the nation’s top selections.
The tournament will also mark the return of National Hockey League (NHL) players to the Olympic stage for the first time in twelve years.
Four OHL Alumni Named to Team Italy
Forwards:
Tommy Purdeller (Val Pusteria Wolves/Peterborough Petes)
Cristiano DiGiacinto (Bolzano HC/Windsor Spitfires)
Defenceman:
Dylan Di Perna (Bolzano HC/Kingston Frontenacs/Kitchener Rangers)
Greg DiTomaso (Val Pusteria Wolves/Mississauga Steelheads/Saginaw Spirit/Barrie Colts)
Italy opens its Olympic schedule on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, facing Sweden at 9:10 pm EST.
They continue group play on Friday, Feb. 13, against Slovakia, followed by a matchup with Finland on Saturday, Feb. 14.
If they advance, qualifying games for the knockout stage begin Tuesday, Feb. 17, with quarterfinal action on Wednesday, Feb. 18. The semifinals are set for Friday, Feb. 20, with the bronze‑ and gold‑medal games taking place on Feb. 21 and 22.
