The Peterborough Petes were in Kingston on Friday, November 1st, as they played their only game of the weekend against the Kingston Frontenacs. Still on the hunt for their first win, the Petes would be looking for revenge in the third meeting between the two teams this season, after Kingston won the first two in Peterborough. Zach Bowen was between the pipes for the Maroon and White, starting his 11th game of the young season.
It was not the start that the Petes were looking for on the road. Just 1:53 into the game, Cedrick Guindon scored on Kingston’s first shot to give the Frontenacs a 1-0 lead. The goal was reviewed for offside, but would ultimately count, giving Guindon his sixth goal of the season. The Petes battled back and found themselves on a power play halfway through the frame. With the extra man, a Carson Cameron shot was redirected by Ryder McIntyre past Kingston goalie Nolan Lalonde. The goal was McIntyre’s second of the season and tied the game at 1-1. That score would stay for the remainder of the period, as the two teams were level headed into the break.
The second period would only see one goal, unfortunately it would be for the Frontenacs. After a tough turnover, Guindon found himself alone in front and waited out Zach Bowen to give Kingston a 2-1 lead.
A wild third period on the scoreboard began three minutes into the final frame, as Ryder McIntyre scored his second power play goal of the game to tie it up at 2-2. Seconds after Kingston took the lead halfway through the period, Caden Taylor jumped on a loose puck and scored to tie it up once again. Unfortunately for the Petes, the Frontenacs took advantage of a turnover in the final five minutes and scored to go ahead for the final time, winning the game 4-3.
Ryder McIntyre led the way for the Petes with two goals, while Caden Taylor (1G, 1A) and Chase Lefebvre (2A) each had two points. Carson Cameron, Jonathan Melee, and Liam Ladds all had an assist in the game, as Zach Bowen stopped 27/31 in the loss.
