After falling to the Owen Sound Attack on home ice the night before, the Peterborough Petes were right back at it, traveling to Kitchener for a Friday night battle with the first place Kitchener Rangers. Aiden Young returned to the lineup for Peterborough, after missing three straight games. With Zach Bowen sidelined due to an injury, Peterborough native Easton Rye would pick up his second start of the season.
It was a back and fourth first period, with Peterborough leading in shots early. The momentum would switch however, with the Rangers taking the lead just over four minutes into the game. After the goal, Peterborough would continue to control the game, putting a flurry of pucks on Kitchener netminder Jackson Parsons, but would be unable to find the back of the net. The Rangers would add one more in the dying seconds of the period to take a commanding two goal lead into the break.
A five minute power play early in the second saw Kitchener add to their lead six minutes into the middle frame. With the Rangers leading 3-0, Peterborough finally got on the board at 13:38 when Ryder McIntyre finished a rebound caused by a Caden Taylor shot. The goal was McIntyre’s fifth of the season and cut the Rangers lead to 3-1. Unfortunately for the Petes, the Rangers added one more in the final two minutes to take a 4-1 lead into the intermission.
The third period would see both teams held scoreless, as the Rangers stayed on top of the OHL Standings, beating the Petes by a score of 4-1.
Ryder McIntyre scored the lone goal for the Petes, with Caden Taylor and Adam Levac picking up an assist each. Easton Rye stopped 31/35 in the loss.
