It’s game number four for the Petes this week as they make the drive from North Bay to Sault Ste. Marie to take on the SOO Greyhounds. After a tough loss last night at the hands of the North Bay Battalion, Peterborough will look to a new face to have an impact in his OHL debut.
Newly signed German defenceman Rio Kaiser is expected to make his debut for the Petes on Friday night. Kaiser joins the team after featuring for Germany at the World Juniors in Ottawa over the past couple of weeks. The 6’7”, 220 lbs, Kaiser is a physical presence on the back end who is very difficult to play against. He’s played at the top professional level in Germany, an experience that should benefit Peterborough’s young blueline. On the offensive side, Gavin Bryant scored his eighth goal of the season last night in North Bay. Look for him to continue his hot streak, as he’s now picked up three points in his last three games.
The SOO comes into tonight’s game having dropped their last three and seven of their last ten. The team is expected to be without star forwards Brady Martin (injury) and Noel Nordh (World Juniors) for Friday night’s contest. Justin Cloutier (33P), Marco Mignosa (33P), and Utah prospect Owen Allard (12P in 12GP) lead the charge up front for the Greyhounds, while OA goaltender Charlie Schenkel has been a difference maker between the pipes this season, sporting a .911 SV% in 23 GP.
Fans can catch tonight’s game at the Petes official road game watch party at Shoeless Joe’s Peterborough. It will also be broadcasted on YourTV Peterborough, CHL TV, and Freq 90.5.
