GAME RECAP: Sztuska Stops 44/45 as Petes Fall 1-0 at Home to Wolves
On Thursday, October 10, the Peterborough Petes began their first three-in-three of the season as they hosted the Sudbury Wolves at the PMC. It was Peterborough’s only game at home over the weekend, as they travel to Guelph on Friday night and Owen Sound on Saturday. The Petes were motivated to get their first win of the season on Thursday, as they were facing a Wolves team that beat them 5-2 last Friday in Sudbury. Overage goaltender Liam Sztuska was between the pipes for Peterborough, picking up his second straight start.
The Petes came out of the gate hard, looking to get an early lead on the visitors. They would have a couple great chances early to get on the board, but Wolves goaltender Finn Marshall was up to the task. It would take until a Petes power play to see the first goal. Unfortunately, it would be Sudbury who scored it short handed to take a 1-0 lead into the break.
The rest of the game would be a goalie battle, with both netminders going save for save. Both Sztuska and Marshall stood on their heads all through the final 40 minutes, leading to a 1-0 Wolves victory.
Liam Sztuksa stopped 44/45 in the game, while Finn Marshall stopped 40/40 for his first career shutout.
