GAME PREVIEW: Petes Look for Fourth Win in a Row as they Host Ottawa
The Peterborough Petes were a perfect 2-0 last week as they secured two wins in three days at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. It all started on Thursday when Peterborough hosted former Pete Caden Taylor and the Owen Sound Attack. After the Petes led for the majority of the game, the Attack tied it up late, sending it to overtime. In the extra frame, Kieron Walton scored his second goal of the game to win it for Peterborough by a score of 3-2. The Petes then hosted their annual Pink in the Rink game on Saturday against the Sudbury Wolves. The Petes won the game 4-1, led by two goals from Carson Cameron.
Tonight, the Petes host the Ottawa 67’s, on the hunt for their fourth win in a row. The 67’s currently lead the season series 4-1, but the Petes will look to use their momentum at home to cut that lead to two games. Tonight’s game is presented by The Gravity Group, in support of BGC Kawarthas. There will be a silent auction during the game in the main concourse, with proceeds in support of BGC Kawarthas.
Reigning Mary Brown’s OHL Goaltender of the Week Easton Rye will be looking to grab his league leading 29th win of the season tonight. Rye had an outstanding two games last week, going 2-0 with a 1.45 GAA and a .951 SV%. Rye now sits third in the OHL with a .917 SV%, while also sitting second in games played, minutes, and saves. Peterborough captain Carson Cameron will be hoping to build off of his first star performance on Saturday, which saw him score twice. Cameron now has seven goals on the season, tying him with his career high from last season.
It will be a battle of the goaltenders tonight, as first year 67’s netminder Ryder Fetterolf leads Ottawa into Peterborough. Fetterolf has been on another level this season, leading the OHL in GAA (1.90), SV% (.928), and shutouts (4). He also holds a record of 3-0 against the Petes this season in three starts. Former Pete and Maple Leafs draft pick Sam McCue will be one to watch for Ottawa tonight. Last time out, McCue led the 67’s over the Petes with two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win.
