GAME PREVIEW: Petes Host Battalion Looking for Fourth Win in a Row
It was a successful three in three last week for the Peterborough Petes as they picked up the maximum of six possible points from Thursday to Saturday. It all started with a convincing 7-1 win over the Brampton Steelheads on Thursday night, Peterborough’s third win over the Steelheads this season. The Petes then marched into Slush Puppie Place in Kingston, an arena where they had lost six straight games, and won 3-2 in overtime. That set up a big 6-2 win over the Frontenacs at home on Saturday night. The three victories improved Peterborough’s record to 8-1 in their last nine games, putting them six points behind the Ottawa 67’s for second in the East Division and Third in the Eastern Conference.
Tonight, the Petes host the North Bay Battalion for the first time this season at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. The game is presented by Women for Wishes, in support of Make-A-Wish Canada. During the game, the Women from the “Light the Wish” group will be fundraising for Make-A-Wish Canada. Fundraising opportunities will be available both in the concourse and in the stands. Fans are encouraged to donate to help fulfill life changing wishes. Heading into the night, a total of $9,500+ has already been raised thanks to amazing partners and businesses that will be highlighted during the game. Fans who will not be at the game can donate to Make-A-Wish Canada by clicking here.
With two of last week’s wins being at home, the Petes have now improved their record at the PMC this season to 10-2-0-1. That sits as the third best home record in the OHL, behind only Windsor and Brantford. A big reason for the Petes recent success has been goaltender Easton Rye. Rye currently sits tied for the CHL lead in wins with 13. After his two wins last week, Rye was named the Mary Browns Chicken OHL Goaltender of the week, putting up a 2-0-0-0 record with a .952 save percentage and 1.50 GAA over two starts.
North Bay comes into the game led by captain and Anaheim Ducks third round pick Ethan Procyszyn. Procyszyn has seen a bit of a dip in production so far this year, but always seems ready to face the Petes. Also keep an eye on Tampa Bay prospect Kaden Pitre, who is expected to make his Battalion debut tonight after being acquired from Flint last week.
Limited tickets for Thursday’s game are still available by clicking here, calling (705) 743-3561, or by visiting the Grant Thornton Box Office during business hours. The game will also be broadcasted live on YourTV Peterborough, Freq 90.5., and Flo Hockey.
