On Friday, October 11, the Peterborough Petes began a two-game road trip by traveling to Guelph to take on the Guelph Storm. The Maroon and White were coming off of a tough 1-0 loss at home the night before at the hands of the Sudbury Wolves, and were looking to spark the offence by getting on the board early against a solid Storm team. Zach Bowen was between the pipes for Peterborough, after Liam Sztuska had the start on Thursday, stopping 44/45 in the loss.
Guelph took late lead in the final minute of the first period, extending it to 3-0 with two quick goals inside the opening eight minutes of the second. Peterborough fought back and would answer on Caden Taylor’s second goal of the season with 31 seconds remaining in the middle frame to make it 3-1 heading into the third.
Early in the final frame, Carson Cameron took advantage of a five on three power play and fired home his first of the season to cut the Petes deficit to 3-2. Guelph would reagin their two goal lead, but only for 10 seconds as Colin Fitzgerald pounced on a rebound to once again make it a one goal game. Unfortunately for Peterborough, that would be the closest that they would get as Guelph scored on a late power play and added an empty netter to win the game 6-3.
Colin Fitzgerald led the way for the Petes with a goal and an assist, while Caden Taylor and Carson Cameron also scored. Zach Bowen stopped 40/45 in the loss.
