On Thursday, January 2, the Peterborough Petes were in North Bay to take on the Battalion for their second of four road games this week. It was already Peterborough’s third game of the week, after dropping one goal contests to Ottawa on Sunday and Niagara on Tuesday. Zach Bowen was back between the pipes for the Petes, looking to get Peterborough back on track after three straight losses.
After giving up a power play goal in the first, the Petes would tie the game up early in the second period. Gavin Bryant scored the goal, picking up a Braydon McCallum rebound and firing it past Battalion goaltender Mike McIvor. Peterborough would later give up a shorthanded goal, resulting in North Bay taking the lead back. The Battalion added two in the third period, including an empty netter, to take the game by a score of 4-1.
Gavin Bryant scored the lone goal for Peterborough, with Carson Cameron and Braydon McCallum each picking up an assist. Zach Bowen stopped 36/39 in the loss.
