WEEKEND PREVIEW: Home and Home (Opener) with the Rangers
Erie, Pennsylvania — The season has just begun and the Otters will face off against the Rangers on the road and in their very own Erie Insurance Arena. Erie will travel to Kitchener on Friday, with puck drop at 7 p.m. The home opener will take place the following day on Saturday with a 6 p.m. start. After securing the victory in their opener against Guelph, the Otters look to continue the energy.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
The second overall 2026 OHL Priority Selection pick, center Colin Kennedy is remaining in the spotlight after finishing the game in Guelph with two goals. Kennedy found the net for a short-handed goal and landed his second during a power play.
Goalie David Egorov became a wall in the opener against the Storm, stopping 29 shots on goal. After allowing just a single goal, Egorov ended with a 0.967 save percentage in his first regular season game as an Otter.
Continuing his preseason momentum, center Jake Murray earned the assist for three of the Otter’s five goals on Friday. Murray passed the puck for two assists in the first period alone and once again in the third.
OPPONENT OVERVIEW
The Rangers opened their season at home on Friday against the Attack but ultimately fell 1-0. Seeking revenge, Kitchener travelled to Owen Sound on Saturday where they secured their first win 4-1. Tanner Lam had a night for Kitchener with two goals in the road game and he led the Rangers in goals during preseason play with four. Coming off of a hat trick against Saginaw in preseason, right wing Avry Anstis could also prove to be a problem.
