WEEKEND PREVIEW: Back to Back Weekend at Home
Erie, Pennsylvania — The Otters are in the midst of a four-game homestand which rolls on with a back-to-back weekend at home against two Western Conference opponents.
It all starts Friday as the Otters welcome in the SOO Greyhounds for the one and only time this season. From there, the rival London Knights come to town for the second of their three trips to town.

LAST TIME OUT
Erie would kick-off their weekend in Guelph Friday as they would take on the Storm. Guelph would jump out to an early lead before Mclean Agrette would equalize for the Otters. The Storm would find another goal to take the lead before Jackson Schouten would strike for his first OHL goal to tie the game at 2-2. Erie would take the lead as Andrew Kuzma would score his first Otters goal to make it 3-2 Erie. The Storm would equalize late in the third, sending the game into overtime. Guelph would have the puck in the back of the net but it would be disallowed for offside. The game would require a shootout where the Storm would score the winner.
The following night would see the Kitchener Rangers make their first visit to the Flagship City since September. The visitors would jump out to a 3-0 lead before the Otters would answer back in the second. Kuzma would score his second in as many nights to get Erie going before Michael Dec would trim the deficit to one and Evan Headrick would strike against his former team to tie the game at three. A tight third period would send the Otters to overtime for the second night in-a-row. A loose puck would be turned in by the Rangers as they would take the extra point in OT.
HOME FOR THE WEEKEND
Erie kicks off their weekend with a Friday night battle with the SOO Greyhounds, their only visit to Erie this season.
Saturday will see the London Knights come to town on Star Wars Night (pres. by the Millcreek Mall).
WHO TO WATCH
After a slow start after the trade deadline, Michael Dec has come alive offensively for the Otters. A goal against Saginaw began what has turned into a modest three-game point streak. A two-assist night in Guelph and a goal against Kitchener has given the Otters’ leading scorer four points over that stretch. Dec is a huge key for the Otters and against strong opposition coming to town this weekend, Erie is going to rely on him to be a key piece going forward.
Andrew Kuzma is coming off of his best weekend for Erie in his short time with the team. Coming into this weekend’s games with goals in back-to-back games, Kuzma scored two huge goals for the Otters in their two last weekend. A goal that gave Erie the lead Friday in Guelph and one that started the comeback for the Otters in their OT defeat to Kitchener on Saturday. Kuzma is a player with plenty of pedigree and as one of the leaders on this team, Erie will look to number 96 to come up with more big goals throughout the rest of this season.
KNOW THE FOE
The SOO Greyhounds are one of a few teams that added at the trade deadline and are looking to make a run this season. Goaltender Carter George was just named OHL Goaltender of the Week and with superstars on the back-end like defenseman Chase Reid and guys up-front like Marco Mignosa, this team is one built to make a deep run in the OHL playoffs. Erie did beat the Hounds when they made the trip to the SOO in October and will look to do it again on home ice.
The London Knights are certainly not the foe they were when the Otters saw them in the playoffs last season but still provide a formidable test. The Knights come in playing well over their last 10 games, taking advantage of time at home, while also keeping up their pace on the road. The Knights are coming off of a 10-2 win over Peterborough ahead of their weekend where Jaxon Cover scored a hattrick. Erie tends to have success against their rivals at home and with a strong Saturday night crowd, this will be a test for the green and gold.
