THREE STARS: Otters Conclude January on Road
Erie, Pennsylvania – It was a hard week on the road for the Erie Otters.
The Otters split interdivisional play against the Owen Sound Attack and the London Knights on Wednesday and Friday. Erie forced overtime against the Attack and eventually took home the win 4-3 before falling to the London Knights 4-2.
In their final game on Saturday, the Otters opened the month of February with a 4-1 loss to the Saria Sting.
Here are the players who made this week happen.
THIRD STAR – CAREY TERRANCE
The Captain put up a steady string of points with two assists and one goal across the week.
On Wednesday, Carey Terrance found Martin Misiak just 64 seconds into the extra period for the Otters to ensure the victory.
Against the London Knights, Terrance had another assist, this time to Malcolm Spence to cut the London lead to 3-2 in the second period.
Rounding off the week, Terrance put up a goal of his own in what would end up being the only Erie goal of the night. Terrance made it a one-goal game halfway through the third period against the Sarnia Sting before the Otters fell 4-1.
SECOND STAR – MALCOLM SPENCE
With one goal and one assist, Malcolm Spence had a hand in both of the Otters’ goals against the London Knights.
Less than 90 seconds into the first period, Spence found Quinn McCall for his very first OHL goal that tied the game up 1-1. In the final minutes of the second period, Spence found the back of the net himself to cut the London lead 3-2, notch his twentieth goal of the season, and earn himself Second Star honors.
FIRST STAR – MARTIN MISIAK
After last week’s heroics in the shootout against the Niagara IceDogs, Martin Misiak once again showed out in extra periods.
In the Otters’ victory over the Owen Sound Attack, Misiak’s two goal night earned him First Star honors. His first of the night came just under halfway into the second period with the Otters on the power play. Misiak’s first goal put the Otters on the board and cut the Owen Sound lead 2-1, and his second goal of the night gave the Otters the victory. Just past the minute mark into overtime, Misiak buried the puck to silence the home crowd.
